Sirens? Check. Villain songs? Check. Pinkie Pie? ...Uh-oh.
Musical mayhem threatens Equestria so often you can set your watch by it. That's where the Versebreakers come in. They're often mistrusted and always misunderstood, but these brave souls won't rest until everypony's safe from the threat of out-of-control musical numbers.
In this anthology, eight authors offer ten stories on ponies whose job is to halt songs. Each chapter is a stand-alone, unrelated story with its own unique take on the core Versebreaker concept. An anthology overview, and a brief introduction to each of the included stories, can be found here.

Stories reviewed by Louder Yay! "Some interesting twists ... it's more than worth reading all 25,000 words if you find the concept catches your imagination enough."
Anthology reviewed by PresentPerfect! "This anthology features some excellent authors doing excellent work ... So if you like the idea of comedy, read Manehattan Takes Rarity and 4th District Court, Canterlot, 11:35 A.M.. If you want to try the darker side, read Song and Seal. Everyone should read Heart of Silence, which is a ponification of Heart of Darkness and absolutely spectacular."
Heiress Lucy Burdock knows life has a way of surprising you.
For example, she wasn't expecting a little pink pony for her birthday. She certainly didn't expect it to start talking, either. It was cute at first, but it kinda feels more like taking care of a little kid than a pony. Lucy's never really been great with kids... but she can make it work!
Can't she?

Once upon a time, Silver Spoon's life made sense. She had the right friends, the right house, and the right school for a young lady coming up in the world. Once upon a time, Silver Spoon lived amongst proud towers in a vibrant, bustling city that never slept.
Now she lives in Ponyville. Not so terrible once one gets used to it. Silver's learned to appreciate some ponies, harbor grudges for others, and tolerate the rest. But sometimes, she wonders if one pony in particular is as popular as she thought.

Wake up. Go to work. Save Ponyville from unimaginable horrors beyond time and space. Have lunch with your PFF.
Ditzy Doo lives in a different world than her fellow ponies. She sees things nopony else can see—like higher-dimensional spatial anomalies, fae creatures, and eldritch abominations. And she uses what she sees to solve problems that nopony else even knows about.
But this time, Ditzy may have bitten off more than she can chew. Something very unfriendly is trying to enter Equestria through Ponyville’s Town Hall. An earth pony with an hourglass cutie mark has taken an unhelpful interest in Ditzy. The Princess’s personal student has grown suspicious. And, most irritating of all, her alarm clock radio is acting strangely.
Ditzy must race against the clock to save Ponyville—a clock that keeps playing the same song over, and over, and over ...

Golden Harvest farms carrots, is incredibly devoted to her husband, and lives in bubbles.
Written Script writes and travels far too often, but is charismatic and well-liked.
Derpy likes muffins and is legally unfit to take care of her foal.
And then there's Dinky, who (legally) belongs to Golden Harvest and (legally) must visit her mother once a month.

The last time the Cutie Mark Crusaders worked on the school newspaper, they used gossip, rumors and innuendo to drive circulation through the roof. Their brief rise and rapid fall taught them a valuable lesson about truth and honesty in reporting. Apologies were made, hugs were exchanged, and everypony lived happily ever after.
For about three weeks, anyway. Now the Crusaders are back in the newspaper business, and it won't be lies that set the town on fire.
A short story about the triumph of enthusiasm over ability.

A forgotten manuscript reveals an odd journey purportedly undertaken by Lord Dunsany, a Promethean explorer of the Lands of Dream. While the manuscript has yet to be authenticated, its contents are interesting enough to merit my posting them here.

"There was a snake among th' hired hooves. I shoulda known it, Apple Bloom. I'm so sorry. I shoulda seen it in his Lunadamned eyes--but I didn't! When I left you, I followed him. I was gonna make him pay. I was gonna fix it. I was gonna make it better. I had a gun and I was faster than 'em... How do I explain it? I'm so sorry, Apple Bloom. But it's a hard thing to make a choice, it's such a final kinna thing, y'know? I didn't know what to do. The pistol was hot and heavy in my grip an' I..."
