When the princesses receive word of a mysterious illness breaking out at an archaeological survey site in the Badlands, they send Twilight, Spike, and Starlight to investigate. They find a bizarre sequence of markers, signs, and hints left long before pony civilisation as they know it, leading the way to place long forgotten by history. Together, the ponies must uncover their meaning, before an ancient evil from a past not even remembered by ponies leaves its mark on the future.

When Twilight was sent to improve relations with the Griffon Kingdom due to a glacier running through the sea that divides the two kingdoms, she was more than a little excited. However, when she and her friends landed on the shores of Griffonstone, Twilight realised this mission might not be as leisurely as she might have hoped. As nice as the griffons were, and as much as her friends were enjoying the "vacation", Twilight couldn't help but be entranced by the titanic ice sheet in the water. Could anyone else hear it talking? How is ice talking? And why... why does it sound exactly like her?

Months have passed since I first saw the Light. Back when the Empress shared her wisdom with me and enlightened me about the true path towards Harmony.

These months have been interesting for me. As a student of Empress Daybreaker, I was given the opportunity to gain much previously locked away knowledge. In addition, my new position as the 'Grand Inquisitor' bestows upon me the task of securing Harmony within Equestria and ensuring our ponies are safe.

And still, another mission awaits me, yet. A task that will lead me up North towards a familiar face. There is much at stake, too much for me to bear, I feel.

I just hope this goes right...
