... BEGIN!

“History is written by the victors.” ~ Winston Churchill

Welcome to the new Equestria: Several decades ago it spanned a continent, now it encompasses an entire world due to an unknown phenomenon that occurred many years ago. Equestriani towns and cities now dot the planet. What many of its inhabitants try to forget though is that many of these cities were built over older cities that belonged to a now-extinct race: humans.

Crystal Clear, a fledgling researcher with a fascination of these beings, intends to publish a book; a comprehensive take on their race. His task is not an easy one as the event all those years ago has ensured that nothing tangible of their era remained. The only way for him to gain any information on mankind is via old unofficial accounts and interviewing the 'newfoals' and anypony who lived with humans back then. But the latter are far and few... and those who had agreed before are now mysteriously refusing to comment. Why?

In the midst of this, Crystal's grandmother passes away, leaving him several memory orbs of her times with humans. Is this the break that he has been searching for? Will he finally come to an understanding of this elusive species or will he learn of something that he wasn't meant to know?

Jacob Sanders was able to escape his forced conversion with the help of his resistance leader friend, Hudd. Their group is now on the run and a primary target to the ponies. In the 12 years they've been on Earth, the genocidal ponies have converted most of the human population. With hardly any humans left, what chance do they have against the forced conversion?

*Story will soon undergo a revision of all chapters.*

After a large scale attack on the Bureaus by the HLF, Princess Celestia claims the Earth and decrees that ponification is no longer a choice, but mandatory. World governments have become weak and countries no longer have the military strength to stop the forced ponification. The new methods have forced most of the remaining humans to go into hiding. With their population dropping everyday, its only a matter of time until there are none left.

For many people, the conflict was the end. For many people, when Celestia attacked, the entire world ground to a terrible halt, and their lives were completely upended. It was the end of everything

For Dr Jacob McArthur, it was just another long road to travel. The same as many roads he had traveled in his life.

For the last three months, he has been on the run, making his way across the country in an attempt to fix his mistakes. Many things have happened in this time, new friends made, old friends found, yet in the end he traveled alone towards his final destination. Yet as it has always been for him, the end of one road may well lead down another longer road.

Second chances are precious things, and often come at some great cost, to ourselves or to others. For Jacob, his second chance, his desperate attempt to fix things, may just cost him everything.

Note: This is a sequel to Requiem, if you have not read it, it likely won't make as much sense. Though it should stand fairly well on its own.

"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
-Thomas Jefferson

Three hundred years ago, Equestria tried to assimilate Earth.
They failed. They fled, rather than face justice.
We moved on. We conquered the stars, we made a civilization that spans across the infinite void. We built true harmony between species.
We thought we'd seen the last of Celestia, but as a desperate mobile colony on the fringes of known space came to discover, we were wrong.

It is time to finish what was started by our forefathers.

Based on TCB: Not Alone, by Starman Ghost.

EDIT: Following Starman Ghost's deleting of Not Alone, I've replaced the above link with one leading to a PDF file uploaded to mediafire.

EDIT (14/04/2014): The character of Evening Star was originally created by Starman Ghost. I am using her without his permission.

After Celestia's announcement of war on humanity, things have changed for everyone. Humanity has been set on the run, fighting has ravaged both sides of the conflict, and the bitter fighting shows no end in sight. Human civilization has been brought to a grinding halt, and it is anyone's guess if it will even continue to exist. It is in this bleak future that one man finds himself in, alone, and driven solely by one goal in his mind, even as everyone around him falls to fighting and war. One man, a pacifist in a violent conflict, would do all he could to change things, to make amends.

He would fix his mistake. Or die trying.

This fic is set in the Ten Rounds universe of The Conversion Bureau setting.

The Barrier: a naturally-occurring wave of magic that formed soon after the portal to Equestria appeared somewhere in the South Pacific, enveloping Earth with an inevitable tide that has destroyed all life on the planet, all despite the best efforts of man and pony alike. Now, the ponies are left to pick up the pieces and try to preserve what's left, while averting the vacant gazes of the mindless Newfoals left from one of their failed attempts to save what they could.

But there's one thing that all seem to have forgotten, from the ponies of Equestria to the strange multitudes of species in the universe with their sights set on Earth: and it's that you can't keep a good apex predator down. You can only hold them up a little while...
