A question I must pose to you about the ending of this story.

Why did they not do something even WORSE than killing her? Why didn't they inflict upon her that which she had inflicted upon them? They could have made the Sun-Tyrant HUMAN!! Think about that! Even IF she was ever given ponification serum, I can hazard a guess she'd never be a princess again. THAT would have been a far crueler fate to her than death.

And what's more, it'd mean she could be alive to see war brought to her homeland.

This just proves that Celestia is not immortal but timeless, meaning that she cannot age but she can die if she takes too much damage.
