Twilight didn’t know what to say. How easy it sounded, to just not think about things that hurt, but thoughts were all she had.

Thoughts were the only thing that were hers, for better or worse.

On a particularly normal morning, Twilight Sparkle learns that Starlight Glimmer has been up to time-altering shenanigans again. She claims that she had to stop Rainbow Dash from performing another Sonic Rainboom in order to save Ponyville from catastrophe, but Twilight had seen enough to know how important Sonic Rainbooms are and how Starlight should absolutely never try to stop one ever again. The future of Equestria could depend on it, after all.

However, Twilight's attempts to fix Starlight's meddling only seem to make things worse. So do her attempts to fix her own previous attempts. As well as her attempts to fix those attempts...

Perhaps Starlight had been onto something.

She's a princess. If not THE Princess. You know- the ruler of Equestria, keeper of the sun, most powerful being on earth, all that jazz.
It's not your fault she's also unbelievably, irrefutably, incomparably gorgeous.

But it was your fault that she overheard you saying just that. Oh yeah, it really was. And let me just tell you something:

To let that happen was really freakin' stupid.

General Iroh. Fire Nation hero. First born son of Fire Lord Azulan. The Dragon of the West. It was thought he would be the greatest warrior in the history of the Fire Nation.

But all that changed when the war claimed his son's life. This changed him, and he turned his back on the war.

This was a necessary event. Iroh had a role to play in bringing balance back to the world...but to play that role, he first had to be broken down, so that he could be rebuilt. This truth was self evident in the spirit realm.

But one particular spirit felt this was unfair to Iroh. The wheels of fate are cruel to those caught in the gears, but this particular spirit felt that Iroh deserved kindness. And so this spirit sent Iroh one who would help him to rebuild himself.

And so, shortly after his son's funeral, Iroh would find a creature sent by the spirits, the likes of which he never would have imagined...a pretty pink pony princess.

Somepony to love...and be loved by.

With the help of Princess Luna, she embarks on a noble quest to discover what a wingboner truly is, and just what kind of information it relays to other ponies.
