Before her banishment to the moon, Princess Luna had been so lonely. It isn't enough though, and she turned from Harmony in an effort to hold onto her new found emotions. One thousand years pass and the little pony who had reached out to her is long since dead, leaving her feeling empty when she is alone. But the Royal library seems to have a new librarian, and she has an uncanny resemblance to her dearly departed friend.

On a stormy night a foal is left on the wrong doorstep and after many years have passed does a familiar looking stranger hold the key to unlocking an unfortunate past and new beginnings for the orphan...?

Big Macintosh is a stallion of few words, but that doesn't mean he's slow or uneducated. Unknown to any outside the Apple family, he's a wiz at math and finds himself smitten with the one pony who could share his love for numbers, and who just so happens to be the personal student of Princess Celestia; Twilight Sparkle. With a "gentle" nudge from his persistent sister, Big Mac manages a date with the purple unicorn, but a relationship might turn out to be more work than either one bargained for.

When a Necromancer is hurled into the place between places then escapes to another world at the cost of his life it is not the end. Being a Necromancer he returns to life with ease, but is skirting the edges of consciousness, and unable to truly wake as a mysterious figure uses magic to put him on the back of a horse to carry him away into the night.

To make matters worse the phylactery he used to save his own life recreated him as a member of the dominant race with... some errors. His injuries are still present and he's now in a much smaller body with his magic drained to nothingness.

So now he's horribly injured, held captive by an unknown force, in an unfamiliar body, in an unfamiliar world and completely exhausted. He's had worse days. He just can't think of any off the top of his head. So familiar territory then, nothing to worry about.

But when Snails turns to Sweetie Belle for help in impressing his date, she realizes she is starting to develop feelings for him. And so what was to have been a simple victory for the CMC turns into something a bit more complicated.

Twilight has come to terms with her feelings towards Rainbow Dash, but with the chaos of planning and hosting yet another Iron Pony Competition, can Twilight find the words and time to tell her friend, or will the hype of the competition prevent her from finding the chance she needs?
