When Spike gets the day off, he crashes into the CMC and strikes a conversation with them. After agreeing to go to their clubhouse to talk some more, Spike finds out that the three fillies have other things planned for the little dragon, showing that they wanted to crash into him in the first place, and it's the worst possible thing he could imagine. A makeover.

And, his makeup artist is Sweetie Belle, his long-time crush.

Life is pretty unpredictable for me, but that alone is the predictable part of it. Pretty early on, I learned that I should expect the unexpected, and enjoy the brief moments of peace when they were there. Such an outlook helped me early on to keep from going crazy with all of the stuff that's happened to us all.

As the years passed though, I found my own source of peace: my closest friends.

My best friends were always there for me, and I for them. We held each other up when we fell below the surface of the sea of life, and offered friendly smiles and listening ears to each other when we needed it most. Even with all the insanity we weathered over the years, we became closer in spite of it...or, perhaps because of it. In a world of hoarding dragons, I may be the only one that cherished a small group of ponies over gold or jewels.

Cheating. It never leads to anything good. Hearts get broken, trust is lost, and lives are ruined. Unfortunately, even the best of relationships are not immune to it.

When it comes to light that Shining Armour has been in a secret affair with Rarity, it leaves Princess Cadence and Spike stunned and badly hurt. Leaning on each other for comfort, the two devise a plan to not only get revenge on the ponies that hurt them, but maybe even heal their broken hearts along the way.

Taking him under her wing, Cadence sets up practice dates for the young dragon. But with each date, something grows underneath the surface. The dividing line blurs, and practice soon becomes reality...

Years before, after becoming a little older and hopefully a bit wiser, Spike fell into a state of hibernation, a common occurrence for a young, growing dragon. His cave sat undisturbed for far longer than he thought, though.
