One night, an amazing display lit up the sky over Ponyville. A comet, brighter than any in living memory, was making its way through the sea of stars. The residents of the town gathered en masse to witness the spectacle. As was the tradition for such an occasion, many ponies made a wish on the celestial body, hoping that maybe, just maybe, some of them might come true...

While Scootaloo performs for The Best Young Fliers Competition, she reminisces about her time with Rainbow Dash as a filly, their times spent learning and playing together.

Though Scootaloo normally appears to be a happy and lively little filly, every once in a while she reacts in a way that catches other ponies attention. Especially the ponies she spends the most time with, Rainbow Dash and her friends, seems to take notice of these little things.

When she finally reacts in a way that cannot be ignored, it is up to Rainbow Dash to find out what terrible secret Scootaloo is really hiding.

Scootaloo's rather embarrassed by her Mom. Not because she isn't cool, arguably she's both the hottest and the coolest mom in Ponyville. It's not about the fact that her mom serves on the royal court either, though that doesn't help. Maybe it's got more to do with the fact that the reason her mom is almost never seen after sunrise or before sunset, or because before the Mare in the Moon returned to Equestria, she knew her name.

Or, you know, that her mother is a chocoholic, an embarrassing know it all that's actually lived it all, owes personal favors to Princess Luna, and has the unfortunate job description of 'ruler of the land and day'. Sure, having Celestia as your mom is cool and all, but at the same time nopony can know who she really is. Nopony gets to 'know' her, and every moment is guarded against snooping visitors. And yet, there's still hope for a better day to come. Even when all your mom's enemies and rivals finally come home to roost and ruin your day. It can't be all bad, right?

The winner of my contest last week, congratulations Derpy_pie! The story is about the aftermath of when Rainbow leaves to join the Wonderbolts, leaving Scootaloo and her best friend Pinkie behind. How can either cope with the loss of their rainbow maned friend and idol?

As a filly, Scootaloo was always ashamed of never being able to fly like all the other pegasi could at her age. She hopes that maybe things will change and that she will finally be able to fly, but she soon realizes that not being able to fly isn't the only problem she's faced with.

Scootaloo, tough Scootaloo...she's been through more than imaginable, but when a caring mare discovers that she's an orphan, what events could lead to Scootaloo meeting her dreams? How could she go from so little to so much family, housing, talent, and love?

When the filly's life goes through the rollercoaster of romance, the river of remorse, and the clouds of destiny, how will she react? Will she be able to handle it all, or will she give out along the way?

Rainbow Dash has invited Scootaloo to watch the Wonderbolts with her. But Scootaloo can't fly, and she is afraid that Rainbow Dash will hate her. She has one week to figure out the basics of flying. Will she be forced to tell Rainbow Dash the truth?

***NOTE:*** Yes, I understand that the beginning seems very similar to the start of "Sleepless in Ponyville," but I wrote this waaaaaay before that episode aired. So no comments about that, please. :)

Rainbow Dash was simply enjoying a day off up in the clouds. When she finds Scootaloo sitting out in the rain all alone, the older mare decides to hang out with Scootaloo for the day, cheering her up. What she didn't know that the filly was hiding a dark secret, and Rainbow Dash has one of her own. Her loyalty burns inside her and she takes Scootaloo up under her wing.
