Starlight Glimmer presents Sunset with an ethics question while they spend time at the mall.

Sunset Shimmer's entire world collapsed overnight. It did it without her even noticing. Upon finding out she has no idea why, and neither she nor Princess Twilight can figure out how it's even possible.

All she knows is that when she met her friends the day after, they weren't her friends. When she meets other students they still hate and fear her. When she tries to remind people that she's changed, they don't remember any of it, but they do remember all of the bad things with crystal clear quality.

Everything she regrets --from being a bully, to being a monster, to yelling at Twilight during the Friendship Games-- remains. Everything she's proud of is gone. With the entire world convinced the truth is a lie, no friends amoung humans, and time running out, Sunset races to understand, and hopefully fix, whatever has happened.

Meta Notes:

When A Friendship to Remember came out I remember being extremely underwhelmed. This is my attempt at taking the basic story and making it whelming.

Well, most of it. You see, most of the book (Chapters 3 to 23 of 23) is the official prose version of Forgotten Friendship, and that is the story here. I feel like the story, at its core, has some real potential, but it did not live up to that potential.

This is a straight up retelling, that means that while it is AU it isn't divergent. More . . . parallel. It doesn't spin off in a different direction, it just tells the same core story with different execution and details.

On her off hours, Sunset makes time for the girl even though she still spends time with her other friends. Because going out of her way to be nice to someone that needs it is something she has learned can make all the difference in the world. There’s also something special about this girl. Something she can’t quite put her finger on…yet.

And she did it in a time where she was too emotionally wrecked to reflect. However, she ends up having some time to think about what she had done. And soon, regret sets in.

When the Moth Miraculous gets misused again, the Ladybug and Black Cat are called to action once again. But this time, there are six called to each Miraculous.

Twilight Sparkle is a normal girl with a normal life, along with her best friends: Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity. But, when they find a pair of mysterious earrings and meet a Kwami named Tikki, they soon find themselves facing evil throughout their home city of Canterlot as the Ladybugs: Princess Ladybug, Swift Spot, Ladybug, Junebug, Lady Luck, and Coccinelle.

Flash Sentry and his own group of best friends: Soarin', Spike, Discord, Cheese Sandwich, and Fancy Pants, are normal guys as well, with their own problems to deal with. Until they all find a strange and peculiar ring and a Kwami named Plagg. With that ring, they can become the Black Cats: Black Knight, Shadow Racer, Cat Noir, Dark Lord, Cat Burglar, and Black Leopard, fighting crime alongside the Ladybugs.

On top of balancing school and superhero work, love squares appear between the Ladybugs and Black Cats, both as superheroes and civilians. The girls have crushes on the guys, but the guys are in love with the girls' alter egos, both as normal teenagers and as superheroes. Despite all of the love complications, they all have to work together to defeat their arch nemesis, Hawkmoth.

In each of these light-hearted one-shots, Diamond Tiara and Apple Bloom always seem to find themselves in the craziest of situations.
