The world has died and is nothing more than ash and dust. The land of Equestria is a far off memory along with those who once inhabited it. Wandering the empty land is the sole survivor of the cataclysm that brought about the death of the world. Yet this sole survivor is also the harbinger of the world's death. In the final moments of the last living thing in the world, the story of how the world died is told. One of many ways the story could be told and one of many ways it could end. This is the day the sun set for the last time.

Twilight Sparkle, pulling another late night, is finally confronted about by Spike and Starlight Glimmer. She reveals that she's been studying one of the realities she saw, specifically the one seemingly ruled by Flim and Flam. She just can't figure out how those two con artists could be as much of a threat as, say, Tirek or Nightmare Moon.

And then Discord shows up, telling her that she's looking at her information wrong. He volunteers to show Twilight, Spike, and Starlight what that reality is really like...

An alternative ending to the season 5 finale.

Starlight Glimmer destroys the time scroll that allows Twilight to return to Cloudsdale. With the sonic rainboom stopped, her plan has succeeded, and this time, Twilight can't come back to try and stop her again. She thinks it's over, but when Twilight pulls her into the present, Starlight finally sees what her actions have done.

Alone in the nothingness, a mare waits.
