Maybe in Another World

Princess Celestia, accompanied by five others, stood at the shattered throne in the ruins of Canterlot City. The Princess appeared worn and withered, yet fiercely determined. Whereas her five companions also bore the same demeanor's, each of them wielding their own Element of Harmony. The five individuals were none other than Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy. They all were focused on a sole unicorn who sat alone at the throne with her head lowered. Princess Celestia eventually broke the looming silence. "I don't think I've ever come across a unicorn with your raw abilities." She glared at the individual, frowning even. "But no more running Twilight Sparkle, this is the end of the line. After all the destruction you've caused around Equestria, it's time you answered for your heinous crimes."

Twilight Sparkle sat at the throne and remained silent, as she just wore an amused smirk with tired eyes. The unicorn radiated magical energy, as if the very essence of magic emitted from her eyes. It was as if she were overflowing, but had grown used to it at this point.

Princess Celestia raised a brow at the unicorn. "Did you truly not think this moment would arrive?"

Applejack scowled intensely as she practically snarled at the unicorn. "Princess Celestia? Can we just take care of her already!?"

Rainbow Dash rose, just as infuriated. "Yeah! We finally got her trapped! Let's take her out while we can!"

However as Twilight slowly raised her head, Princess Celestia and the others staggered back with caution. The unicorn gazed around from the top of the desolate mountain with a lost expression, as if taking in the entirety of the equestrian wastelands for the very first time. She smiled softly to herself. "Did I really do all this? Hmhm, sometimes I tend to forget that. It's, a lot to take in, if you can imagine."

Princess Celestia frowned momentarily again as she lowered her head. "Why did you do it Twilight? What reason could you possibly have for wanting to cause all this destruction?" Princess Celestia glared at the unicorn. "At least redeem yourself that much."

The unicorn sighed as she remained slouched over in a tired position. "Does it really matter anymore?"

Rarity cut into the conversation as she looked to Princess Celestia worriedly. "It doesn't Princess Celestia! W-We need to hurry!"

Fluttershy nodded in agreement. "W-We, we have to be careful. She might run away again."

Princess Celestia remained persistent however, even desperate for an answer. "TELL ME!"

Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow and Pinkie all flinched in unison at Princess Celestia's sudden outburst.

Princess Celestia trembled a bit, as she lowered her head further and closed her eyes. "Please, at least tell me why...."

The rest of the Elements all took a moment to acknowledge Princess Celestia's feelings, before they to appeared just as troubled.

Equestria was now no more than a desolate wasteland. A barren husk of it's former self. Surely there was some reason...

The unicorn at the throne suddenly spoke as she didn't make eye contact with the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. "I was born with an abnormal magical condition. I know it may be hard to believe but, in the beginning, I never wanted any of this to happen."

Princess Celestia and the others eyes all widened, surprised as Twilight began to actually speak about such things.

Twilight continued. "As a filly I had a great love for magic and books. I wanted to unlock all the mysteries of magic, learn everything about it. My parents saw this they gave me the chance of a lifetime. The chance to enroll in Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns." She began chuckling in amusement, "Oh, how that was a surprise. But...." Her gaze drifted to the lower left, "Things didn't go too well."

The others remained silent, listening intently as Princess Celestia's expression sunk further as she also continued to listen.

The unicorn continued with her gaze focused on the broken steps leading up to the throne. "Needless to say I didn't pass, and I didn't gain entry into the school. My parents didn't care though, they still thought I was special even though I no longer did." She smiled softly to herself in recollection as she laughed a little. "They always looked out for me no matter what. It didn't matter how much of a loser I was."

The others continued to listen, everypony besides Princess Celestia wore skeptical expressions.

Twilight paused for a moment before running a hoof through her mane. "I was never good at making friends or talking to other ponies. To be honest, besides my parents, I always preferred being alone. Awkward was the word the others liked to use, weird, strange, just to toss around a few more. Eventually after learning I just couldn't relate to anypony I decided to just give up on the idea of making friends." Suddenly the unicorn appeared more frustrated as she spoke. "But they always had to ask, why is it that if you're so into magic you're not in Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns then? And I always used to tell myself one day I'd prove them wrong, one day I would show them all."

Princess Celestia's eyes saddened a bit as she continued to listen, appearing troubled.

The unicorn suddenly raised her head, peering down at the lot of them. "And one day I did!"

Princess Celestia flinched, as the rest of them got into defensive postures, all glaring at the unicorn.

Twilight chuckled wildly, spreading her hooves. "One day I proved them all wrong! That my real magic was only locked away! That all it needed was a little push and there it was, flooding out like a tidal wave! Hahaha!" She suddenly quieted down, falling completely silent for a moment before sniffling and rubbing her eyes as she groaned softly. "Everything was supposed to be different. B-but no, that's how destiny works right? That it was all meant to be, right?" She raised her head as the magical energy pouring from her eyes caused any form of moisture to instantly dry. "Everything was gone, my parents, my classmates, everypony and everything. All because I decided to get a little emotional, a little angry." She snickered, "And you know what's funnier? I finally got my cutie mark! All it took was the destruction of everypony and everything around me, of the only ponies who were there for me when I needed them!" She rose, laughing softly.

Twilight began taking a few trots down the broken steps, her eyes now focused on Princess Celestia. "And you know, sometimes I wonder if it was really all meant to be. If it all really boiled down to me being trapped in some inescapable destiny." She raised her head, tilting it to the right with a smirk. "To be the most unstable, destructive unicorn that ever trotted the plains of Equestria." She looked down upon the group in wonder. "I guess I'll never know, seeing as this is the end of the line for me." She closed her eyes though, taking yet another moment. "Ah but to answer your question Princess Celestia. Not much of a reason really," She tilted her head to the left with a cold stare. "I just wanted the world to feel how I felt. To represent how I saw it. A world without friendship, without love, without kindness. A desolate, lonely, and barren world. That's how Equestria should be. That is why my magic the way it is. This was my destiny all along."

Princess Celestia and the others all looked to one another, nodding reluctantly before looking ahead again. Suddenly the Elements of Harmony started to glow, as they all began generate a powerful spell of their own, focusing it all on the unicorn.

Twilight frowned a little as she lowered her head a bit. "Do you think the same way Princess Celestia? That it was all meant to be?" Her expression sunk further somewhat. "That I was always meant to be a monster? That we were all meant to be enemies?" She laughed again, as her voice cracked a sliver. "S-Sometimes I like to entertain the thoughts, that maybe, in another world, I could've had friends."

But no answer came. Princess Celestia, along with the others all remained focused on the unicorn as she stood there at the shattered throne. For reasons unknown to her, Princess Celestia's heart began to ache, which she assumed to be pity for the unicorn and the rest of her now barren homeland. She along with the rest of the group began to rise as the spell they'd created only charged up further, amassing to complete destructive capacity. Princess Celestia spoke in regards to the other bearers of the elements. "Are you all ready?"

The rest of the group nodded as they all focused on the unicorn, their primary target, then speaking in unison. "READY!"

Princess Celestia squinted with an intense glare. "Goodbye Twilight Sparkle." And the spell shot right towards the unicorn.

Twilight Sparkle sighed heavily as her face darkened, she kept her head lowered for the time. "Well what does it matter?" As she suddenly used telekinetic magic to elevate herself, suddenly charging straight for the group and right for the spell with a spell of her own.

A great expansive light reached across all of Equestria, containing every color of the rainbow.

It'd only be in another world anyways... The unicorn's thoughts fell silent.

And near the coast of the Equestrian shores, many gathered ships carrying evacuated citizens all watched as thick clouds dissipated over the lands of Equestria. As if a dark looming cloud had finally been dispersed. Many of the citizens all watched in awe as the sun and moon became visible in the sky, while others began to cheer in relief. Two however looked to the skies in sad acknowledgement, as one appeared to be a young royal guardsman, a stallion baring a white coat and sapphire mane. The other was a pale pink alicorn who looked to be one of obvious royalty. The two frowned at one another before embracing in a hug, since for them it was both a moment of relief, and loss.
