Rarity has a rather unladylike moment of panic when she thinks Spike has moved away without telling her. Twilight is amused.

Short oneshot that just sort of fell out of my head this evening.

Spike sets off on a solo camping trip as a vacation given to him by Twilight Sparkle for being such a hard worker, when he sees an unexpected face.

Maud Pie, Pinkie’s more serious and stony-faced (pun intended) sister, shows up at his house bearing gifts for him for the trip.

Spike knows Maud well enough that she’s trying to be nice, but why? Why is she? She hardly even knows him.

Or does she...?

A lonely Pegasus, scared by the world around her and content just being by herself. On a faithful day, she earns her cutie mark. What if on the same day, she also found a dragon egg. How would one simple shift change Fluttershy and Spike's life?

AKA, a story I'm surprised didn't get made sooner.

Even the slightest changes in the past can have a significant effect on future events, case in point:
what if Spike was never raised by Twilight Sparkle? What if he was raised as a bonafide apple on Sweet Apple Acres, brother to Big Mac, Applebloom, and of course Applejack? What if his arrival as a hatchling had inadvertently prevented the deaths of Bright mac and Pear Butter?

Through the simple act of betraying with somepony he knows and loves. Spike will be shown just how far his music can take him. From a simple dream as a little dragon, he gave up his dream and his talent to help the only pony who betrayed him after so many years of being on her side. Running away from Ponyville with his violin, Spike trips to Canterlot... Healing old wounds, finding new friends or something more, and possibly even rekindling the old fire of his dreams...

This time he will focus not on the others, but to follow his dreams...

Spike is distraught. The love of his life remains constantly out of his reach. His attempts at romance crash and burn like the Horsenburg airship. As the gala draws near, he enlists Blueblood to help in wooing Rarity once and for all. Little do they know that another mare already has her eye on Spike, not to mention a plan to snatch him up first. -Heart to Heart Sequel-

There isn't much love can't do, but it can't give you a right choice when you're torn between two loves.
A love of a young dragon, or a love of your friends and family, which will Rarity choose?

Spike is taller then he was, and later he asked Twilight to start paying him and having more rights. but she just says he's being ridicolus and runs off to the spa trip that Rarity promised.

Meanwhile Spike, who is filled with rage and anger for Twilight, runs off to Canterlot to stay with the princesses,but he also finds a mare with her son and daughter who are homeless, Spike brings them with him and starts to live in Canterlot. Although Twilight demands that he comes home, he says no.

So I wonder what it'll be like for Spikes new life.

Every Valentines day, Princess Celestia takes Twilight and Spike to a secret dining room where they can have one night a year as an actual family, and illuminate the many forms love can take between individuals.

note: this was written back in February of 2011, and large sections of canon has outdated most of this fic. also, this was my first piece of writing in a long while at the time so I realize I made several stylistic and grammatical mistakes throughout. As such I really don't want any in depth criticism about my composition on this fic. I might come back and clean it up, I might not.

Some would say that marriage should only be between two that love each other, but what if you feel anything but love for the one you are to be wed with? That you are only doing it not just for your country but for your mother. Join Spike as he replays in his mind how he is about to go from Princess Twilight's assistant, to a married drake and king of a whole race.
