Rainbow Dash's world came crashing down on her. All of a sudden, all of her friends knew her secret. It went well -- mostly... Everything worked out in the end. But... Rainbow shouldn't have needed to go through all of that pain to get here.

Fluttershy comes out to the rest of the bearers of the Elements as a trans mare. This story follows what happens next: with her, with the mare she's fallen in love with, with the Mane Six, and with respect to their friendship.

This was (and remains, for that matter) my first fic, and was an attempt to apply concepts of transgender identity to Equestria. I felt like a world as accepting of, well, everything as Equestria tends to be would be a fascinating place to explore identity. I hope it worked!

(I wrote this before reading Dash's Secret (by Hopefox), but if you enjoyed this story, I can't recommend Dash's Secret highly enough. It engages with some of the same issues, but is (IMHO) better written than mine. http://www.fimfiction.net/story/1876/Dash%27s-Secret)

A note: "trans mare" refers to somepony assigned male at birth and raised as a colt who comes to identify as a mare later in life. I'm following human usage here.

Can a utopian paradise that preaches love and tolerance really make ponies happy? Does contentment really lie in free universal healthcare and open government?

Twilight Sparkle is determined to resist this happy world on a matter of principle, and finds herself sneaking off with a mare called Trixie to hate and loathe each other in secret.

Will their hate-nest go undetected? Or will they be forced to face the dangers of the Ministry of Love and the mysterious Room 101?

This story follows the events of Dysphoria, Arc 1: Introductions serving as both a sequel and an independent story.

With the mystery of her past revealed to the Mane 6, Evening Rose adjusts to living her life in Ponyville.

Struggles arise as she makes new friends and adjusts to the town under the weight of her secret.
Will they come to accept her? Will she accept herself?

She endured a fall from Canterlot mountain after being attacked by her father. She barely survived the attack by Granite that left her hospitalized. She even faced a copy of herself in the midst of a changeling invasion she helped cause. Her life has not been easy, but each experience helped her come to terms with herself and the life she has.

She's finally happy with her life, and all she wants to do is leave the past behind and enjoy the normalcy she's earned. However, changes are happening in Equestria and she's caught in the middle, despite her wishes against getting involved.

But what can one do when destiny knocks?

This story follows the events of Dysphoria, Arc 1: Introductions, Arc 2: Ponyville, and Arc 3: Canterlot.

Evening Rose has been released from the hospital and is struggling to recover. Her physical injuries have healed, but the emotional scars have yet to fade. However, as she struggles to come to terms with her recent assault and the changes it heralded, strange happenings begin to occur in Canterlot.

Someone has returned that shouldn't have, and Rose is forced to go back and face the things she's left behind. There are things she doesn't understand, but the answers she looks for may lead her to more questions, and to danger.

After all, seldom are things what they appear to be.

This is a story of a pony that arrives in Ponyville, broken and dying, before being rescued by Applejack.

He ran far to get here, and he's not sure if he's being followed, so hiding in Ponyville seems like his best bet.

However, his secrets build up and his insecurity rises.

How long can he keep secrets from the new friends he's made, and what will happen to those friends when his secret gets out.

Following the Summer Breeze trial, Rose finds herself packing and preparing.

I look at myself in the mirror. My mane and my tail are much longer than what is usual for wearing a tuxedo. The fashion show is many hours away from now, and yet as I stare into the eyes of my reflection, I feel that the mirror's image lies to me. The pony in the mirror is not Rarity. I am going to fix that.

Covered in a light blue glow, a pair of scissors floats aside my head. I pull a strand of my mane between the blades of the scissors, and with a snip, the scissors close as a purple strand of hair falls to the floor. I take a deep breath, and continue cutting my mane. I finish, and as I look at the stallion cut I gave to my mane, I can't help but think: It looks so nice on me. And why why wouldn't it?

That is what I am, after all.
