Tickling Somepony's Fancypants - TheTalentlessPony

Fancy a Puzzle?

"It's Fancypants. Fancypants, he..." Fleur De Lis paused to gulp somewhat, as if trying to hold something back.

"Fancypants? Is there something wrong with him? What's got you so tense?" Rarity asked, gingerly tapping the model's foreleg. Was there some sort of secret that Fancypants never told her about? Honestly, she felt a little hurt just thinking about it!

"Well, it's just that, when you were talking to Fancypants with your unicorn magic, I noticed that he was getting flustered, so I just had to ask him about what was up, and he-"

"Fleur. Get to your point, if you please!" Rarity begged, growing anxious.

Fleur De Lis stared at her for a moment, then sighed.

"He loves you! He really, really loves you!"

Rarity deadpanned. "I... I beg your pardon!?

Fleur De Lis grimaced. "Yes; he had wanted to tell you for so long, but he could simply never muster up the courage to!"

After a short silence, the pink-maned mare grinned. "You're surprised? Because it's true. Fancypants, THE Fancypants, couldn't muster up the courage to tell you what he's been wanting to all this time!"

Rarity gasped in shock. "B-but, I mean... I thought-"

"-That he wasn't interested in having a wife?" Fleur De Lis asked. She chuckled. "Wasn't it you who told me that everypony wants a special somepony of their own?"

"But he never even-"

"-Showed interest in you? Don't tell me that you never saw the signs, Rarity! You know, for someone who always talks about love, you're completely oblivious when it's being directed at you!"

Rarity grew silent. Had she really not seen it? Had she been blind to Fancypants' emotions because she was too consumed by her own goals?

Suddenly, it hit her. The way he would pause when she talked about finding someone. The way he tensed up when she got close to him.

And those cookies; he had made them. For her. She had just assumed otherwise because she couldn't imagine him truly loving her; so much so that she had completely ignored his nervousness around her.

"O-oh... oh..." Rarity brought her hooves to her head and closed her eyes. She felt guilty. She had pushed all of her troubles onto him, and she was causing him trouble because of it.

"Don't feel bad, Rarity," Fleur De Lis muttered, wrapping her forelegs around the purple-maned mare. "You didn't see it. It's understandable."

Rarity sobbed somewhat. "B-but-"

"That's enough, Fleur De Lis. I think you should go."

The two mares jumped, turning around to see Fancypants standing behind them, looking stoic and serious. He didn't seem angry, but his gaze made Rarity shiver slightly.

Fleur De Lis got off of the fountain wall and walked towards him. "F-Fancypants. I-I just wanted to-"

"You've said enough," Fancypants told her, turning his gaze towards the ground.

"You can't just ignore your feelings!" Fleur De Lis yelled, her nervousness suddenly turning to anger. "It's tearing you up inside! I know it!"

Fancypants glared at her. "I refuse to let my emotions get in the way of Rarity's happiness. No matter what I may or may not feel, she deserves the very best," he explained.

"You're the very best," Fleur De Lis told him. His eye twitched for a moment before he directed a hoof towards the carriage behind him. "Go."

Fleur De Lis huffed at first, then dashed away from the stallion, jumping into the carriage and practically slamming the door behind her.

Fancypants promptly turned his attention to Rarity, who slowly approached him, trying not to look so guilty.

Apparently though, it didn't work.

"Do not give me that look, Rarity," he told her. "I'd prefer not to have your pity."

She frowned, hurt by the stallion's words. Why would he think that what he felt didn't matter to her?

"...What are you doing here?" she asked, not knowing what else to say.

He suddenly stiffened, then looked away and sighed. "Honestly? I... I came to check up on you." He knew that he was found out; there was no point in hiding his true intentions anymore. "And..."

Rarity watched as he reached into his pocket. When he turned back to her, he held something in his mouth. He magically lifted it out and presented it to her.

"I found your missing piece."

Rarity blinked. It was the puzzle piece she had needed earlier. He really was telling the truth when he said that he'd find it for her. Would this have been his excuse for coming if Fleur De Lis hadn't spilled his secret?

She held the piece in her hooves, staring at it as if it would have the answers she wanted. After a moment, she dropped it and leapt at Fancypants, embracing him.

"R-Rari-"

"You're my missing piece."

Fancypants stiffened, absorbing Rarity's words.

"I-I-"

"I'm sorry," Rarity interrupted. "I'm sorry I didn't notice. I'm sorry that I was blind. I..." She tightened her grip on him, earning a surprised gasp from the stallion. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I didn't realize my own feelings. I was so caught up in finding the perfect stallion that I didn't see it. I was even comparing every one of my choices to you, but I failed to realize that my perfect stallion was you all along, because I couldn't even comprehend the idea of you wanting a mare of your own."

Fancypants didn't respond at first, making Rarity nervous, but she quickly relaxed as he suddenly began to run his hooves across her mane. He gently kissed her cheek, and the two smiled at each other.

"Forgiven, forgotten."

I'm crying :raritycry: I'm leaking liquid pride of happiness! :pinkiehappy:

Finally they confessed, hope you make a wedding chapter. But your story, your choose.

I loved it and I am so glad Rarity finally saw what was in front of her this whole time. I cannot wait for more chapters of this ship :raritywink:

I'm considering bonus stories/epilogues for my stories, but yeah; we'll see.

3485634

I hope more people make stories and chapters of this ship too! It's seriously underrated!

3486326 ... This. Was. GLOURIOUS:raritystarry::raritystarry::raritystarry::raritystarry::raritystarry::raritystarry: THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE ROMANCE STORY OF ALL TIME. ...*blushes* .////.

S-seriously? I-I mean, wow!

I'm just surprised that anyone would like it all that much! Judging by the very sad like-to-dislike ratio, I thought that a good chunk of viewers hated this! I was worried that I had been giving everypony a bad impression of FancypantsXRarity!

*clap* *clap* *clap*

Good story. I assume this means that in a future story, Rarity is going to make Canterlot her permanent residence, yes? Since Fancy Pants is going to be her husband.

And I also assume that your running commentary is that ultimately Spike's not old enough or mature for her, and that at its basest desire, Rarity wanted a sophisicated stalliion. If that is the case, I apologize, but Rarity is an idiot for ignoring the obviousness of seeing her love for Fancy Pants earlier. Why did she allow Spike to just run him around, figurately. She knew already that Sparity wasn't happening, that's a little cruel in my eyes to just let the dog chase his tail.

At the very least, she should allow him one last time to at least help him get his own "missing piece", as the story puts it.

Firstly, thanks for the comment. :pinkiehappy:

Secondly... I'm not sure I get this sentence:
"I apologize, but Rarity is an idiot for ignoring the obviousness of seeing her love for Fancy Pants earlier. Why did she allow Spike to just run him around, figurately."

I don't know if you made an error or I'm not reading it right, but I assume you mean that Rarity was leading Spike on and/or never noticed her love for Fancypants (or... didn't notice Fancypants' love for her? I'm not sure. :rainbowhuh:)

If that's the case, Rarity was never really leading Spike on or anything. If you recall the first chapter, while Spike was in fact a little reluctant to let Rarity go find someone, he did still let her go without charging down to Canterlot to give those stallions a talking to. His crush is there, but it's diminished over the time he's spent with her, because, as a kid, it was more lust for Rarity than anything else. After hanging out with her for so long, he grew less lustful for her and now only wants her friendship. The reason he was hesitant was because he's kind of confused of where exactly his crush stands, knowing that, had he been a little younger, he would've been so jealous. Rarity was fully aware of this, and was just waiting for his crush to disappear.

There actually was a deleted scene of Spike showing up and explaining this, but I cut it out.

As for Fancypants; well, it's pretty common for someone to simply not get the signs or realize their feelings. Rarity was just so focused on a guy that was 'out there for her' that she didn't even consider the fact that she had a perfectly good stallion right there. It's kind of like two friends. One gets a crush on the other, but that friend is so used to a simple friendship that they don't even realize that it could go a whole 'nother way.

You basically covered my questions with your reply, and I do appreciate it.

Here is what I was going with it at first, and I admit that it was gone with a bit too much emotion, since I'm a Sparity/Spilight shipper first, and that part of me was screaming about Spike basically being shafted by Rarity at first because of the cliched reasons, and for the most part it was. I originally though that it was implying that it was just an excuse for Rarity to be shipped with someone other than Spike, and not make Rarity gay. But you made it a very plausible what-if for Rarity finally finding love that had eluded her for so long.

Like I said, most of my original opposition for it were childish, but as I read it more, I really did like the story. Well made, and I was actually quite proud of all the main characters: Spike for graciously stepping aside as a romantic partner but still being her friend, Fancy for his patience in letting Rarity figure it out on her own finally, and Rarity for realizing what she needed all along to cure her loneliness, which was a relationship with Fancy Pants. I still would have liked it better that with her being as generous as she is, Rarity would be willing to help Spike find him the "missing piece" that he's been hoping was Rarity but ultimately found out it wasn't meant to be. (As long as it wasn't Sweetie Belle or any of the CMC, no offense to them, but that gets old and frequently the ship is poorly constructed in my opinion )

3526885

That's a cliche reason? I actually wasn't aware, as I don't read too much fanfiction. .w.

But I'm glad I was able to cover your questions! Don't worry if you thought you were childish or anything; I thought you handled yourself well!

3580563 Your welcomed.

Normally, I'm a Sparity shipper, but this... This is fabulous. If only there were more stories on this site like this. (Is there like a group for fabulous stories? If so, could somepony point the way for me? Thanks.)

4294804

Eheh, wow! Thanks for the compliment! I'm a mild Sparity shipper, but I dunno if I'll ever do a story on them.

Don't really understand why this has been thumbs-downed by so many. Rarity x Fancy is a complete natural and it is entirely believable that Rarity might lose some of her creative mojo as a result of loneliness. :raritydespair: Plus, it was pretty well written, especially the serial meet-ups from hell. :raritywink:

Will there be a sequel? I really need a sequel! Somepony, tell me if there is a sequel! I- Sequel!" *Deep Breath* I love your story, it's very well written. The puzzle was a very clever idea, especially the missing piece. I don't see why it was downvoted so many times, it is an exquisite piece of art.

It's possible. I'd just have to get a really good idea for it.

4987277 What about a wedding? I would love to see her friends reactions. Oh Celestia, I feel like I'm awful, interfering like this, but I thought I should say anyway.

4987327

Mmm... interesting idea in theory, but I'm not sure if I'd know how to write a wedding well; I'm not good with weddings and kids and such. :twilightsheepish:

//screams

I know this is an old story (I just searched the pairing up and this story showed up), but man, I love this.

I was even comparing every one of my choices to you , but I failed to realize that my perfect stallion was you all along, because I couldn't even comprehend the idea of you wanting a mare of your own."
I know this story is old but it's the best Raripants fanfic I've seen out there. <3
I'm in love!

aaaaa, oh my gosh, THANK YOU!!!

You describe how Rarity feels about Spike's infatuation with her, and how much she gets lustful stares from other stallions, but what she's really interested in is love. You're such a talented author
