Insulted - First_Down

Applejack left the fairground with her head high, trying to retain what she felt was the remainder of her dignity. It was a task made difficult thanks to a rainbow-colored leech currently wrapped around one of her back legs in a tightening grip.

ā€œI canā€™t recall the last time Iā€™ve ever been so insulted.ā€ Applejack said, breaking the tense silence.

Rainbow Dash responded immediately by squeezing tighter around her marefriendā€™s leg in an attempt to slow her down. Her new career path as a fleshy anchor wasnā€™t off to a good start, however, as Applejack kept dragging her across the ground with each exaggerated pull. ā€œCome on, Applejack,ā€ Rainbow finally whined. ā€œI said I was sorry. Itā€¦ it was an accident.ā€

Applejack didnā€™t slow down, but she shot Dash a downward glance. ā€œAn accident, huh? What, like you tripped and yer mouth just happened to end up there?ā€

ā€œIt was just a one-time thing. It didnā€™t mean anything, I swear,ā€ Dash defended.

ā€œI reckon Iā€™m the only one whoā€™s allowed ta swear right now, and Iā€™ll have plenty more swears for ya later tonight,ā€ Applejack said with a hard edge in her voice. ā€œSuppose I shouldnā€™t be surprised none. That mareā€™s got ā€˜Tartā€™ in her name for ponyā€™s sake!ā€

ā€œOk, now youā€™re just being ridiculous.ā€ Dash gritted her teeth. The ground was starting to wear away at her coat. If she kept hanging on, sheā€™d eventually end up with a bald belly.

ā€œAm not.ā€

ā€œYou didnā€™t mind when our other friends were doing it,ā€ Dash tried to reason.

ā€œThey ainā€™t my marefriend, Rainbow,ā€ Applejack said with an angry huff. ā€œYa do somethinā€™ like that in public, howā€™s it gonna look on me?ā€

ā€œOkay, okay, I get it,ā€ Dash finally relented. ā€œWhatā€™s it going to take to get me out of the doghouse? ā€¦Iā€™ll help with farm chores tomorrow. Iā€™ll read bedtime stories to the saplings you just planted.ā€

That almost got Applejack to smile. Almost. ā€œDonā€™t you try nunna that fancy sweet talk on me now.ā€ With one last forceful tug, Applejack at last freed her leg, leaving Rainbow Dash face down in the grass. She tilted her head back at the prone pegasus. ā€œWeā€™re havinā€™ a nice, long talk back at the farmhouse tonight, yā€™hear?ā€

Rainbow groaned at Applejackā€™s receding figure. After a minute, she felt the earth shake from vibrations of steady hoofsteps drawing nearer. From the force of each impact, she guessed who it was.

Big Macintosh nudged Rainbow with a toe as a way of greeting. ā€œAJ saw ya eat one'a Pear Tartā€™s turnovers, didnā€™t she?ā€

ā€œEeeeeyyyyyyyup.ā€

ā€œYa know my sisā€™ gets mighty particular ā€˜bout her baking, right? ā€˜Specially when sheā€™s competinā€™ fer a blue ribbon?ā€

ā€œEeeeeyyyyyyyup.ā€

Big Mac quickly looked from side to side, making sure no one else was around, before leaning close to Dash. ā€œWere they worth it?ā€

Dash cracked one eye open and lifted her head, a half smile forming across her muzzle. ā€œSo. Bucking. Delicious.ā€
