Twilight, on her new wings, couldn't find her way around Cloudsdale. It may have left more of mark on her than she wants to admit.
Maybe she could use some help, but she's going to have to be honest first.

I wonder if in her moment of panic her instincts kicked in and she channelled her alicorn magic to her pegasus form.
Lovely little slice of life! I somehow managed to gloss over the "Golden Oaks" phrase in the first line, so kept picturing the library in the crystal tree, so was kinda confused on the timeframe. Partly that was because Dash sounded a lot more mature than... well, than season three Dash. Also, a lot of detail was pointed out about how she could've navigated Cloudsdale, but... no mention made of why she couldn't teleport out of a storm. I head-canon it as Dash being "wise" enough to not retroactively suggest it (and make Twi feel dumb again), but feels like it should be mentioned in her thoughts at least, just with some minor excuse like "I was so confused, I couldn't even focus enough to teleport", or that a magic storm like that interferes too much with a spell.
Nitpicks aside, I definitely enjoyed the emotion and the kind moments on display. Thanks for sharing!
I'm not sorry!
I love that dialogue between RD and Twilight about Cloudsdale navigation. You nailed the voice with RD talking about it as if it was common knowledge.

Or Rainbow just didn't think of that because she's used to thinking like a pegasus, not a uni/alicorn.
And even though this doesn't make sense (to the extent that "sense" applies to cartoon horse magic,) I like imagining that if Twilight was tumbling and didn't know which way was up she would teleport in the wrong direction.
Anyway, let's hope that her future flight lessons also cover not flying downwind of mountains on windy days.

Note that the Golden Oaks library existed for a 'season' (season 4) after Twilight got her wings , so it could have happened ...
I enjoyed this story. I like how we see the characters' emotions at work in a realistically complicated way, especially Twilight's. I enjoyed seeing this meaningful friendship between Twilight and Rainbow, and how the two ponies turn out to discover something they have in common (even if they're at different stages at that 'something' of discovering that they aren't as smart or talented at everything as they expected of themselves), and how Rainbow helps with putting Twiliight's problem and newness at being a pegasus into perspective.
I like that while some people say "Drama" and "Slice of Life" are completely opposite and incompatible tags, this story earns both.
