Interesting premise so far. Will definitely be following to see where this goes.

I haven't felt this excited for a next chapter in a story since Message in a bottle in 2018

She the mistake of feeling sympathy for filly guides. Give here enough time in the wasteland and she'll be grillin them up and selling filly guide steaks for bottle caps! For real though, I'm kinda curious how the wasteland wears on her moral integrity vs Littlepip. Corruption of virtue is probably inevitable to an extent. But Littlepip was also not really a chosen one where Twilight would have been. I don't really see Twilight shooting someone in the face after helping them like Littelpip by the end of the story, but I also know alicorns are presented in the show for having the potential for the most evil of sides. Of course its different universes. So Twilight's susceptibility to the trauma of living in the wasteland is not beholden to presumptions of any interpretations regarding that narrative.

Pinkie kinda talks like the pinkie from the mentally advanced series in this one. Not saying that's a bad thing minf you :pinkiecrazy:

You never know what Twilight might (or might not) do! Still, the fact that there even is a Midnight Sparkle implies that some set of circumstances would have led Twilight to the same point. At least in this universe anyway.

why does that part with the filly clouts feel so familiar

dam with midnight you really wish for nightmare moon, too bad NM was just a lunatic :rainbowderp:

11722921
I'm not sure if you intentionally made that pun but I like it.

11722884
If you read Fallout Happy Horses, this happens in the same world so that's the same filly guide cart.

welkome to the wasteland twilight :pinkiecrazy:

ore should i call it ashlands:rainbowhuh:

11723047
yes i actually did, remember not too much tho

no spoilers on how the status of the stable is now ;D

Is your pinkie pie supposed to be based off the Dawn Somewhere pinkie pie

they just willingly entert a deathtrap, oh to be a innocent new hero again xD

11728978
Nah I'm sure Flim and Flam had the highest standards for quality and safety when having the stables built. :pinkiecrazy:

I didn't recognize it at first, but the story is based on another Fallout series that had Crimson as the main character, and oh boy oh boy, that serious was insane, especially the part where it had the murder mystery aspect of it and other aspects that I won't get into but good parallel

11739545
It does indeed occur in the same universe as Fallout Happy Horses yes, though this is meant to be a bit more sane and readable by people that might not like how explicit that one got.

Admittedly, Starlight's fate was extremely questionable and got me wary of where this story would lead. The story had some hooks in it, until the next important character.

Your writing is really interesting so far. Unlike other FoE, a few that I have read really, yours seems to be in the thick of the action with a somewhat decent breathing room in there to let the information digest.

You've paced yourself really well. Not perfect, but a feeling along the lines of homemade and just right. It has that bite-sized but in 10k words feeling.

I am curious to see where you are going with the story!

Also... I kinda forgot a lot about the original FoE and Project Horizons. Millions of adventures, tiny details, and emotions compressed into a large novel tends to make certain parts... rereadable.

This story feels like a great refresher. Feels as if I am reading FoE for the first time again.

Though I made a lot of intentional references, I tried to set it apart from FoE. I originally planned to use some of the same characters in an alternate reality setting (and even got permission to from the author), but then I decided it'd be less predictable with new OCs.
Anyway I'm glad you like it so far. Though even I'm not completely satisfied with the pacing, I hope it keeps you locked in at least :p

Full disclosure, I was able to read most of the story before it's final rendition and my OC, Mercury Shine is in this story. That said, these two things don't influence my opinion of the story. I don't give credit where it isn't due and this story absolutely deserves credit for being very well written and entertaining.

MLP is my all time favourite thing ever. It's genuinely one of the few things that makes me happy in any way in this world. I'm also not much of a reader. I like playing games, watching movies, etc. Even books I find engaging tend to be a slog and I consume them best through audio books. Once I started reading Ashlands, I couldn't put it down. The story had me super engaged for every twist and turn, I liked the characters and the overall story a lot, the worldbuilding is fantastic and the banter between the characters is great and highly amusing. This story is absolutely well worth the read.

I appreciate the kind opinion

dam talk about unkillabel :twilightoops:

11747396
Yeah being that hard to kill is pretty rude.

the unlife of a ghoul is a lonely one :ajsleepy:

poor cute marble pie :fluttercry:

11759564 Hopefully she'll be less lonely.

“Last time she did that,” the first guard sighed, “She hallucinated and called herself ‘the Light Bringer’.” all hail the Toaster repair pony

11747396
I mean they're more killable once you know what to do.

oh goody lets all trust the psychopath:pinkiecrazy:, but hey we got some awesome backstory out of it:twilightsheepish:

Oh yes let's trust the psychotic bicth that is more insane than the pies, that's a great idea :raritydespair:

11772146
Yes Crimson's special power is backstory.

awesome chapter:heart:, why do i have a feeling we will get another heart braking next chapter like muffin's:raritycry:

11777359
It's not a super happy setting >.>

I still love the pacing so far! Well, except when it breaks up from switching to a different POV at a previous time. Otherwise, I am enjoying their character interactions.

The sad part that Munro point out is that the plot seems to be set up for disaster and misery. So far, it feels kinda fast with the deaths, like the story is setting up for the ending relatively early.

I guess it's unfair to judge this against the giant FoE and FoE Horizons. Their word counts kinda help spread the misery out rather than expecting the gang to die every day/chapter. Gotta grow some positives in their world of finalities.

In any case, I am still anticipating for more of your unique Fallout.

11777625
It is meant to be its own story though I use a lot of the terminology and make references to FOE to honor it. As for sadness, it is definitely an 'anyone can die' story, but it's also a world where there exists ways to cheat death and events, so some of the deaths you don't expect to might not stick.

oh boy here we go :ajsleepy:

nice chapter ^^

NIce Chapter Also Happy Hearths Warming

shit poor dinky dam, but what a smart filly wow

what a messdup group of travelers :pinkiecrazy:

that last statement from mercury must have stung :twilightoops:

i wonder how old dinky actually was when she died and ghoulyfied :rainbowhuh:

It's unfortunate that Dinky found out too late that her crush loves her in the end but couldn't do anything about it.

So far, Crimson has been nothing but a strange masochist. But if her story is true, how did they evade from scrutiny for so long until she became a minister?

Just... who was he? Or maybe it's a what? A griffon-what?

11794053
Crimson's foalhood story is available here but it is far more extreme and graphic, probably not for most readers.

11793872
I didn't specify how old Dinky was because I wasn't sure what to say.
As for being a messed up group of travelers, Astarion would sum it up if he were here.

11795839
that clip is funny :rainbowlaugh:
