Twilight Sparkle is one of the most powerful Unicorns in Equestrian history. But how would the events of the show change if Twilight, the Element of Magic, was never a Unicorn? Would she still be able to wield the element? Would she still make the same friends? Would she even be Celestia's student at all?

I like the idea of Twilight being a pegasus, it's something new to try out.
She for whatever reason looks adorable without her horn and with the wings.
HMM. Looks like a pretty intriguing AU thus far. Definitely liked the in-universe reason for Twilight to be born a Pegasus as well as the reactions to that birth.
While I have no doubts that Twilight could still do well as an academic (probably knowing more about Pegasus magic than other Pegasus two decades older and more experienced), it IS going to be interesting to see how she ends up gaining Celestia's attention. Perhaps using research, gadgets and potions to compensate for the lack of unicorn magic (such as building a portable high-powered lamp to hatch Spike's egg). Of course, to be fair, she could ALSO be the main assistant to whoever happens to become Celestia's personal student (be it Sunset Shimmer [if this is a universe where Celestia managed to get through to Sunset BEFORE she left Equestria], Moondancer, Trixie or Starlight Glimmer [the last one if this is a universe where Starlight ALSO got her Cutie Mark at the exact same time as Sunburst]).
Anyway, really looking forward to more of this.

Maybe. Plus, of course, being smart enough to figure out potions quite well to allow her to compensate even better. And an even better researcher than any of the Unicorn students except for maybe Sunset and Moondancer.

Most likely, she will not even be able to get into this school. After all, this is Celestia's School for Gifted UNICORNS, the nobility of unicorns will devour her there with guts, despite the possible patronage of the princess. And, personally, it seems to me that it will be much more interesting if Twilight's life is not connected with CSfGU.

For what it's worth, the 2021 IDW comic showed a diamond dog doing unicorn-style magic with a magic staff, which had me wondering if something similar might work for other creatures. Though even if Twilight could obtain something similar (if it's physically possible, there's no doubt she could find a way if she put her mind to it), that doesn't mean she'd have an easy time fitting in with the unicorns.

I love these kind of ideas I hope Twilight ends up attending to the Summer flight camp, this way she could meet Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy earlier than in canon.
I don't think Twilght will end up becoming Celestia's student, maybe in this universe Sunset is still her student or maybe Celestia found Starlight Glimmer when she was a filly and she became her student.
It would be funny if Twilight were to develop some kind of rivalry with Rainbow Dash, I imagine Twilight not becoming as fast as Rainbow but maybe getting to fly in a very calculating way, she would save her energy at first by flying relatively fast and when she is getting closer to the finish line Twilight would increase her punching speed to win the race (something similar to what she did in the Fall Weather Friends episode) she could beat Rainbow Dash in some races xD

Yeah. I could definitely see all of that. Of course, I could ALSO see Twilight developing a hero worship of Cadance after she finds out Cadance was, herself, a Pegasus before she became an Alicorn. Cadance having even more of an influence on Twilight, combined with getting to know Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash (and possibly Gilda as well), could lead her to embrace Friendship much sooner.
Rainbow and Gilda remaining close friends with both Twilight and Fluttershy could have a positive development on all of their characters. Rainbow, Gilda and Twilight together could all help Fluttershy learn to become more assertive WITHOUT being a jerk about it for example. Plus, Twilight acting as a tutor for Rainbow and Gilda could help them learn to combine brains with their brawn a lot sooner for another example.
But I've gotten off on a tangent and I'm sorry.
Off to a wholesome start!
Cool, I would like to see more and see how this goes. Things will probably change, maybe Twilight will prove herself another way. She could still be studious and have a love for books but can't do any magic. Maybe if she puts on the crown for the first time it will fascinate her all the more and she won't want to take it off!

Again, this was a rather enjoyable chapter. Definitely liked the bits of reflection on assorted things following Twilight's birthday - not only explaining claustrophobia to a child too young to know the terminology, but also in adapting to a Pegasus foal. Though not all Pegasus kids are that bold (just ask Fluttershy and her family, the former of whom I hope Twilight gets to meet, along with Rainbow Dash, years sooner than in canon [like in flight school]). And, yeah, the scene with Shining in school was pretty good too. And it looks like they met Cadance BEFORE she ascended (as she was mentioned to be a Pegasus instead of an Alicorn). Of course, that makes me wonder what led to Celestia adopting her if this is before Cadance ascended.
Anyway, really looking forward to more of this. Of course, I'm going to also be wondering if Sunset Shimmer is going to still be Celestia's personal student in this universe or if it's going to be somebody else entirely.
If I may ask: Is Spike going to be in this story/alternate universe?

Probably not. Not unless one of five things happens:
1. He is hatched and raised by the other dragons (in which case he probably won't appear until Twilight's an adult),
2. either Sunset Shimmer or Starlight Glimmer hatches his egg (since they would be the only two unicorns powerful enough to stand a chance of hatching a dragon egg),
3. Twilight invents some sort of high-powered heat lamp to hatch the egg.
4. Celestia hatches and raises Spike herself.
or 5. Spike's egg is found during the Nightmare Moon mess and is hatched by the Elements of Harmony (in which case, like the first one, he wouldn't appear until Twilight was an adult, but in this case, he would probably be raised by Fluttershy).
Admittedly none of those five things are impossible, but it would still be rather unlikely.

The story is in flux constantly. I haven’t decided if Spike hatches or not. With the outline in my head, Spikencould very easily not exist, and the story won’t be too much different. Or, he does hatch, and it may go a different way. No spoilers, though. I do take ideas of what could happen from the comments, though. You guys influence me as much as I influence myself.

Personally, I would rather not have Spike involved too early. If you recall, Spike was often nervous while riding Twilight's back once she became an alicorn, at least until he gained his own wings in season seven, or eight, I forget which. Besides, it is too early in this tale to worry about something far in the future for Twilight. I would like to see Twilight's initial contact with Rainbow in pegasus flight school. That might turn out quite humorous. Of course, that might twist the timeline a bit, regarding how the Mane Six got their cutie marks, beside the thing regarding Starlight's attempt to change history.
We shall see how the author decides to rewrite history. Give it time. I'm enjoying this, even if the story picks up from Twilight's birth as a pegasus.
Good chapter, I imagine that when Twilight moves to ponyville she could be the head of weather it would be funny to see her constantly scolding Rainbow Dash for taking naps or doing aerial stunts and not working on leaving the sky clear of clouds

Aww, that was a really good chapter. Definitely liked the dialogue, characterizations and future chapter set-up. Yeah, Twi gets the daredevil stuff from her mother, though the Pegasus thing seems to crank it up at least slightly. But I did really love Cadance helping Shining, Velvet and Night Light catch Twilight and explain certain things about Pegasus nature.
Not much more I can say that hasn't already been said in other reviews (both mine and those of others), but still looking forward to more of this.

I find it interesting that in this story, Cadence is a Pegasus. I’m only used to her being talked about as an alicorn. It makes for an interesting difference. I actually think it gives her personality.

A lot of people forget that Cadence wasn't born an alicorn. Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell goes into her backstory. She was a pegasus orphan who defeated a witch who stole love using the power of love. That's how she got her cutie mark and became an alicorn at the same time.

The most jarring thing about this fic is how young everypony is. I hope that there will be some time skip soon so I can get into the older characters again. Still, all in all, a good read with the twist being pegasus Twilight.

It'll be a while before the adult mane six show up. There is going to be timeskips, and there might even be one directly after this chapter, but I have a few good ideas about where the story is going to go, and I've already ran the whole thing through my head multiple times. The adult mane six are going to be a while, but RD and Fluttershy are more than likely going to show up earlier than that.

Holy moley. That was one doozy of a chapter. Definitely appreciated the work going into the exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up. So, Twilight just had her first magic surge, and produced some pretty strong winds and even Cadance had a lot of trouble keeping up with her. And, yeah, That Andromeda gal, yeesh, all that bad mouthing little Twilight just because she was born with wings instead of a horn, in addition to the standard mother-in-law garbage. Definitely don't blame Night Light and Velvet for snapping at her. And, yeah, Andromeda reminding you of one of your actual grandmothers? Also, Cadance's family dropping in during Twilight's birthday was a great touch.
Very much looking forward to more to this.

"Twilight's racist grandmother" wasn't on my list of expectations but here we are I suppose. Although I am starting to see problems on the horizon if Twilight were stay in Canterlot while growing up, it doesn't exactly sound like a place which would have a lot of opportunities open to pegasi.
