The Original story was a Summer Sin Celebration 2023 submission that I prompted but had no input writing. I did, however, commission the sequel and I have worked closely with the author to get it just right. As such, I have something of an insider's view.
Overall, I think that Shining had good intentions with Flurry the very first time they did it. The problem became that they didn't stop. And the more they did it, the easier it became to justify, until it became the new normal. Cadence has hated it since day one but didn't have the heart to stop her daughter.
I also would say that Shining didn't groom Flurry, they grew into it together. The pregnancy was unplanned with the expired birth control and all, but I truly believe that Shining wasn't trying to groom Remedy... but he had no control on Flurry grooming her behind everyone else's backs. The fact that Remedy had no push back on her mother's suggestion shows a cute foalish display of trust in her parent.
The next chapter is going to be epic. Plus, an Epilogue is planned. I hope this explains the mindset without spoilers.

Remedy, definitely, though he's not the only one. Flurry... there's kind of a weird, mutual grooming happening there. I normally wouldn't suggest that, but we have the advantage of being in Shining's head when this starts; he's an idiot, but not predatory, at that point. But when she's watching, and he invites her in, they both are losing any pretext that this is just their kinda fucked up idea of how fo handle the situation. Flurry has wanted to watch this from the start, and the only way Shining would be happier with this is if Cady would join in.
At this point, I almost want her to go check on Twi though, see if there's another example of Shining doing this to really stick a fork in any impression that he's "just" a complete moron.
TL;DR, Mom and Dad are incestuous degenerates, especially Mom, and Grandma should start running auditions for who to push at Remedy to get her into something healthier.

Lol. That is sort of the dichotomy of my clop stories but this one in particular feels like a cut above the others.
Can I just say how refreshing it is to see a story where Shining and Flurry are the villains, while Cadance is the protagonist? Very rare in these parts.
I really need Cadance to lay an unholy smackdown on Flurry at this point.
Aaaaaand Twily drops the last bomb on any clinging to Shining Armor's rationalizations. Wonder if that will even cross the mind of either of his daughters. Maybe Remedy, she doesn't seem to be the same type of kink-driven lunatic her parents are.
Particularly not her mother. Shiny blew up any hope for sympathy, sure, but Flurry is just being either the biggest Equestrian Idiot, or downright vicious with how much she wants to rub her mother's nose in Shining Armor's mess.

Shining is deluded but Flurry is a psycho. She's the Frankenstein monster he unintentionally created and we'll see more evidence of that in the end.
I loved this chapter. It had everything I wanted and still surprised me. The best is yet to come.
I like how Spike is enjoying the spectacle, it feels like he's not going let Twilight live this one down anytime soon. Most stories like this tend to just forget he exists, It's nice to see one having fun with him.

Originally I DID forget he existed. It's been a struggle to keep this kind of sad and sinister tale funny when it has so many gut punches. The dinner scene needed some assistance. Cadance's remarks are funny but also cruel and biting. I decided Spike could fill the role of bystander with little stakes in the fight who could more or less just enjoy the drama for what it was, soften the edges and be a sort of comedic surrogate for the reader.
What frustrates me the most in this story is that Shinning pretty much gave Remedy no choice. I don’t mean consent wise, more that he’s trying to keep her from being with another colt, but then jumps at the idea of being the one to take her virginity. It makes his quips about “her dignity” feel like a thinly veiled excuse. I’m not sure if he was doing this consciously, but LORD ALMIGHTY I hate Shining Armor in this one.
…Of course that’s part of the fun and I’m looking forward to see where this train wreck of a family end up afterwards.

But anyway, I didn't expect the story to go this way, and while I don't totally agree with Cadence, I can somewhat understand and empathize with her.I genuinely wonder if Cadence is going to change her opinion in the morning when she'll be sober.I see her as a really level-headed character in the story(the most level headed, actually), so I doubt she won't feel a bit of remorse after she wakes up.

This whole story is like a car crash. I desperately want to look away, to remove it from my Updates, but I keep getting pulled back because I have to believe this is leading to something, anything, more than "Cadance is cool with everything and joins in the incestuous multi-generational fuck pile."

I'd like to think that if some magical food or drink that they really liked and consumed often counteracted the birth control, Flurry would have gotten pregnant far sooner than 13 years after her first pregnancy.
Twilight's pregnancy was intentional, of course. Cadance's was an accident, but not from oral birth control, more of a drunken impulse.
Remedy is kind of tragic. To want the heat to end. To want to understand. To like it but then for it go so horribly wrong.
I like how it all unfolded, thanks in part to the comments from the fans (which did steer the story a little bit) and from the author closely working with the person who commissioned the story.
It never really states if Flurry got pregnant on purpose or if she fell victim to the same botched batch of birth control potion. But that's up to the reader to decide for themselves.
Welp, cant wait for Shining to somehow end up knocking up one ones he sired this time once their first heat hits.
Here's hoping Shiny will find a way to become ageless.
