I thought it was very well done. There are very few incest stories with any type of push back. Not only did the story feel more realistic, it had a realistic ending. The author took my prompt and created nearly exactly what I hoped would get written.

I guess it could have been either. Per the rules of the contest, anything left unsaid is up to the writer. I liked the loving father having a drink and coming up with the best worst idea to fix the problem.
As a general rule, Shining doesn't seem to have Ill intent but he can come across as stubborn or dumb. I think you struck a good balance here.
