"...what did I just even read." - Wintermist || "Pour la beauté du geste" || ooo || π

T

Trixie knew for a fact she was the Greatest and Most Powerfulest student at CHS, and also the best guitar player in the whole school. Rainbow knew for a fact that she was the most awesome student at CHS, and also the best guitar player in the whole school. Both were quick to argue their lack of relationships was due to the sheer lack of partners on their level.

Everyone else at CHS knew Sunset was the best guitar player in the whole school. Somehow, though, they'd never thought the blue girl with the overinflated ego who also played guitar would end up dating the blue girl with the overinflated ego who also played guitar. It made sense in hindsight, and it turned out to work pretty well.

Until it didn't.

But it's without the flair and poise I bring to my own image. You're too... raw. Too unrefined.

Says the girl who wrote a song with the lyrics "I'm a six-course meal and you're just burnt toast." :rainbowwild:

Hair got in the way a lot, and one of them ended up with pigtails as a result.

Ah, the secret origin of Babysitter Trixie.

In any case, lovely tale of two impulsive, self-aggrandizing girls finding themselves hyping up each other just as much as themselves. The last chapter's a bit overwrought, but it does a magnificent job of conveying the almost obsessive infatuation of new love. Thank you for it and best of luck in the judging.

Loved it. I fumbled a lot going through it; it's pretty complex (at least to me), but it was still an absolute joy to read. It's strange how I feel like these feelings that they're feeling are somehow both too much for them to be able to convey to this degree and yet, at the same time, not.

Best of luck in the judging!

That last chapter is so intimate. The way you described their love for each other is really impressive

This is an intriguingly layered depiction of teenage romance, and I greatly enjoyed a lot of the music references you had scattered throughout the narrative (particularly the nod to St. Anger). The two scenes with the two characters playing guitar stand out well. However, the voicing hurt this one for me, as Trixie and Rainbow didn’t really read much like themselves to me. The last chapter also felt like it was stretching hard to meet that precise 15,000 word count, and lost some of the engagement I had earlier on. Regardless, it made for a neat read, and thank you for the submission.

I really liked it, but the ending lost me a tad because it felt like it was stretching itself a tad. Regardless, it was sweet and enjoyable and I liked the little snippets of the other friends here and there.
