So an interesting thing to note about the pre-colonial Americas, specifically North America. Chaco Culture National Historical Park, New Mexico, is an instance of a pre-colonial NA civilisation that collapsed or decayed before Europeans arrived and brought deadly diseases with them.
The locals in question was likely a trade and religious hub, and it's built in the middle of the desert, using materials that came from thousands and thousands of miles away, suggesting infrastructure to transport it there having existed at one point. And for one reason or another, it was abandoned.
Not because it's in the desert, that didn't seem to stop them. To the best of my knowledge (though I should do more proper research on the subject) most North American civilisations gave up on cities as an experiment (I'm obvious signs of conflict or disaster) and dispersed into smaller groups.
And they were relatively more advanced than their counterpart civilisations in Europe at the time. For hundreds of years, spread across thousands of miles, with wildly different architectural styles and building locales, cliffsides, plains, deserts. All abandoned so completely no descendant of those tribes even knows what the builders called themselves.
That's shocking. There's a segment in Noah Caldwell-Gervais's video, "Atomic Pilgrimage: Ghost Towns, Nuclear Relics, and Lost Civilizations on the Road to Trinity Site", and a section timestamped about 43:25 that does the explanation and cursory explanation more justice than I could in a FiMFiction post, and frankly the whole video is a great exploration of everything along his path to Trinity Site. I'd recommend his stuff, it's amazing.
But I'll leave you with a question I think he asked. What about civilization would drive you, and your friends, family, neighbors and all to leave it behind, and never look back or start again?
Poor Chrysalis...never thought I'd say that but yeah. I feel bad for her in a story for once. 🥺
Anti Villain Chrysalis is always a fun representation. A Chrysalis who is only forced into being a villain from hatred and broken trusts.
Jethro saw a Queen, wearing a Flash tshirt, and he didnt immediately have a heavy rocking bass beat thud through his memories at that moment?
Time to Movie. Pinkie, get the toothpicks.
Nice.
Side note. Dog girl best girl

Hopefully she can begin to heal. Holding grudges doesn't do anyone any good.

It's probably over a dozen now.
This is one of the better chapters. Huge backstory and development in, not one, but three characters.
Ember, we kind of already touched on, but we finally learn more on Gemini and how the Lycans operate.
And Chrysalis! Damn.
I really want to hear more of her story.
nice chapter
Probably remove that not, since he is the emperor.

Fixed.
Once again a great chapter. I said it once and I'll say it again, I love this story and where it's going. I'm looking forward to seeing how you develop Chrysalis, Ember, and Gemini's characters.
The only thing missing to tell Ember, is to give her a riddle: "which of a dragon's attributes is the deadliest weapon in your arsenal--claws, teeth, wings, armor, tail, strength, speed, agility, breath?" The answer, of course, is none of them... the greatest weapon is the dragon's mind. Without a brilliant and sharp mind, no dragon can effectively use any of those attributes against an opponent. Despite Torch's phenomenal size and strength, Jethro had the superior advantage throughout that fight both because Jethro is no slouch for mental prowess and Torch's mind was too far rotted to effectively use his body to his best capabilities. And Jethro should admit he knows he would be at too a severe disadvantage if he ever fought Ember because her mind is just as sharp as his own, if not far superior to his own!
To Gemini, he should keep reminding her, perhaps Lycan females are superior in every way she was taught. But the same can't be said where it comes to other species. For humans, men have some advantages over women, while women have several different advantages over men. But discounting exceptional individuals of which there are plenty, men generally do have the advantage where it came to combat skills, which was why nations were male dominated pretty much throughout history. With real-life Terran animals, it tends to be MUCH closer to being equal with the sexes, with males only slightly dominating over females for some species.
Within MLP canon, it was pretty much a matriarchal society where it comes to ruling, but strength wise, it seems males are still stronger with the ponies. Hard to tell with griffons, but it would seem they're pretty close to being equal among the sexes. Most griffon-centered stories here seem to bear this idea out, too. Regarding dragons, while the script called for Ember to eventually win, technically, it was Spike who was supposed to be Dragonlord, and HE was the LEAST the dragons! So, for dragons, it would seem that everybody really has an equal chance of ruling (even the baby of the bunch), despite most being stronger/smarter/experienced/etc. Not even a meritocracy, but rather a "fortunocracy".
So, Gemini simply needs to begin thinking beyond being just a Lycan. She's joining into a much bigger world than the one she was used to!
For Chrysie, I think that was pretty much a spot-on discussion to have had with her.

Damn, I should have included all that. That would have been awesome. Maybe later in the story I will.
