I'm conflicted here. On one hand yes she was generous and yes took time out of her day to do this for her friends, but on the other hand you just can't help your own personal opinion on things. Argument from authority is a fallacy for a reason. Yes, Rarity is an expert, but that doesn't make her own opinion on this more valid than theirs. The girls shouldn't be shamed for having their own opinions on things. Is it too much to accept the girls have their own thoughts and it's just as valid, even if they don't have "expertise" in the subject?
i love this chapter

Yeah but remember in the show they got what they wanted and looked ridiculous in it. It was after that they realize how badly they behaved.
loved the ending of this chapter!!!~
keep it up!~

Ok but that is no excuse to go too far in the opposite direction here. The issue is we aren't talking about something objective where I can give a pass to him saying trust Rarity, since she is an expert, but for something subjective like fashion. No, their thoughts are just as valid as hers and to shame them for it is just wrong. All I am saying this whole thing is more of a gray issue and there is room for compromise and maybe find a middle ground, like Rarity managing to find something that appeals to them while not looking ridiculous as in the episode.
11193120
Rarity tried to make stuff that would suit them and considering they know nothing about fashion or even have a style that they like because no clothes most of the time shouldn't you at least give the expert a chance before you dismiss their words.
Though I always wish I could have heard the girls get chewed out for their behavior. They acted quite badly in the show and even worse in this story.
11193127
The girls knowing nothing about fashion is irrelevant and doesn't matter. Their opinion is still just as valid and shouldn't be shamed for it. End of discussion.

Rainbow didn't even know what she wanted so she doesn't exactly have much of opinion. The girls were going to make a mess of things and realize rarity was right after all. Opinion is nice but sometimes you have to have something to back it up with.

Rainbow still knows enough to know she doesn't like it and it's still valid. Yes, Rarity is right about something completely subjective . Key word sometimes. Meaning you don't have to have it, so their opinion is just as valid and you are simply side stepping the issue. I think I am done here. I made my point and have repeated myself enough. Feel free to have the last word, but I am done responding, since this has gone on long enough.
Well I just finished binge-reading this. Well done so far. :)
Nice

Well, even if they were truly hideous, it's still about the principle of being gracious. Rarity made them for her friends, she even made them to wear at the gala, but nothing at all forces them to wear them at the actual event, bonds of friendship or no bonds of friendship.
They don't have to gush over it, but they don't have to act like they're swallowing a dagger either.

No, except Jethro here does by acting like their opinion is invalid simply because Rarity is an expert as if opinion on clothing isn't subjective. Her being generous is why I am conflicted. Yes, perhaps they should grit their teeth, but shaming them for how they think, which is completely out of their control may I also point out, is also wrong. That's my issue plain and simple.

Fair enough, he did not give his message as well as he might.
Really enjoyed this chapter.

Gay as in happy or excited. Gay didn't always mean same sex relationships.
So far I am REALLY liking this story. Definitely gonna be following this!
Loving this story, FAV and Track.
nobody gonna comment on the age?

No? Why would we?

True but it doesn't hurt to have a style before you complain about someone getting you an outfit they believe will suit you. At least give a chance to the style to what you think of it before you reject it.
Nice bit of continuity there, having Fluttershy state that she is a year older than Pinkie. My brain latches onto details Ike that, so thank you.
Third instance of Element of Honesty accidentally dropped the Y, making AJ the Element of Honest.

Rarity doesn’t strike me as the type to admit her age…

Golden rule: Given age plus six. So she's 30.
