Alternate universe reasons, I'm trying to point out in the story that some things are still the same but scattered. The Changelings and Discord are such examples of being "scattered". And some of this is going to be somewhere later in the series but I can't explain it because spoiler reasons.

And I do beg to differ on this statement. Sure the US comes below on the number of active service numbers, but they only limit themselves to that because there is no need for a draft and due to limits of logistics. And the US can supply their forces anywhere in the world (except far north) with their transport fleets of trucks, ships, and aircraft carrying cargo. Again, the US can sustain 2 large fronts with one of the most advanced military technology with drones and tanks (not to mention military equipment), and the strongest navy in the world. Numbers don't mean everything, it's what supports said numbers that push their forces to be the best, aka supply.
So what I'm saying is, the US is mostly prepared to take down any country by any means, and it's home soil cannot be touched besides for ICBM's or Nuclear weapons, but there are counter-measures for that. And not to mention it would be a logistical nightmare for any country to be invading the US from overseas, they don't have the naval shipping numbers or any combat vessels strong enough to hold off the great carrier strike groups. And that's not to say that the US hasn't been making plans to fight major powers, like REFORGER to hold back against the Soviets and the simple act of cutting China's sea trade route to collapse their economy.
And sure Russia is 2nd in the world's most powerful nations, but they have terrible logistics, making their forces almost useless. Even China's massive army couldn't sustain itself if the sea trade was cut or if they have large fronts to deal with, and the logistical nightmare it would be to handle said fronts.

Numbers mean nothing if you have a better defense and homefield advantage. Like any gun owner in america would probably help fend off the invaders. Then there are the plains of the mid-US, the appalachians on the east side, the rockies and deserts on the west side. Its almost impossible to successfully invade america with a single countries army. Well actually, I saw a video that said that america could win a war with the world if they play their cards right.

Showing Twilight that he somewhat trusted her, and since he was in the caves with her, it shows that he went down with her, literally. Meaning that he defended her, at the last moment. And for the other humans, they didn't believe her but trusted her word when they spied on Cadenza during the night Twilight tried to talk to her brother in their home.
