Dandereshy

T

A young foal tells her father she fears the bizarre noises under her bed at night. The father just shrugs it off as her wild, young imagination.

It's not.

The story's pretty scary, but has a good plot twist. 5/5 stars.

Somehow I had a feeling it will be him. Still, nice read

I know the ending is intentionally left open, but... did you come up with a reason why he's the monster? Just curious... :unsuresweetie:

Wall of text is a spoiler.

Children are always looking to their parents for support and safety when they are fearing the unknown. When it comes to "monsters under the bed", I decided to abuse this fact to create an original ending. As far as I know, nobody else has done this kind of twist to the "monsters under the bed" story. I just wanted to catch my readers off guard. Who would expect the parent to be the monster?

The only questions I have left are why I classified this as grimdark and not a darkfic.

1. Why did her father emit demonic sounds when he was found out?
2. Is her father possessed by some entity that was using him to prey on Mazy, or is he really just a pedophile?
3. What happened after he was found out?

Following my previous theory of him being possessed by a poltergeist, the entity probably fled the house, leaving Mazy alone and mentally traumatized. The fact that Mazy most likely lost her father to the demon, probably having full control, she probably ended up living with her mother after it. Regardless, she is forever traumatized at the truth that her father was unintentionally causing her mental pain, and after all that happened, she will never be the same.

That's why I labelled it grimdark.

I wouldn't mind doing a reading of this. I liked the atmosphere you put into it, and I like the ending as well

If you so wish to do that, I give no protest.
