Do not worry it made it just fine. And wow this chapter was an info dump and answered some questions and along with some being answered many more have sprung forth from the ground and have blossomed....I know bad joke is bad.
So like is Gurr actually a timberwolf that' mane feats as a star wolf in the astral realms or he a star wolf that manifests itself as a timberwolf in the physical realm?
It might have been mentioned here but it either went over my head or I missed it.
Good chapter.

Well there is an interesting idea. What if timberwolves are simply a breed of Canis Minors that are in a living suit of wooden armor before being corrupted?
VERY interesting chapter might sound silly but in some ways Grrr the timberwolf is less scary than the idea of an ursa minor. You have a huge wolf made or wood that ponies don't really understand or the HUGE wolf made of stars.. Something that is a force of the cosmos rather than just a force of nature.
I love this view of Celestia she is being very honest with Tarnished. She can't protect her little ponies from every little bump and expect them to grow. i get the feeling she was tired and annoyed with Tarnished saying he wasn't very magical. It is also interesting that Celestia knows Starlight is out there but cant really find her
hmm i get the feeling Celestia has some of fluttershy's stare in her but 1000 times more powerful
And all this happened while Tarnish was just sitting there, rooted to the spot. <Puns. It had to be puns.)

You couldn't just leaf it alone, could you?
A very awesome chapter well done, Grrr is massive! hahaha, nice nice niceness~
Good work on this dude, I enjoyed it~
I really like this segment. It's just such a perfect response in the face of Tarnish's insecurity. She just slapped Tarnish's perception of himself upside down. While he could reason it out, I'm sure, I doubt he has really thought that one Equestria's benevolent rulers could easily ruin to outright obliterate lives if she so desired, or if she went on a rampage could kill countless innocents before being stopped. While it wasn't directly stated, more or less implied that his status as someone with anomalous magic that actually disrupts normal unicorn magic doesn't really matter-anyone can be dangerous, given the right conditions and talent.
Just thought this little bit should be looked into a bit more, because it is a really nice bit of dialogue.
Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.
7421069 Well, you know how it is. You paint some excellent word pictures, while I'm limited to mere ...photosynthesis.

It is a pivotal moment and I am really happy that somebody took notice of it.
Tarnish, unfortunately, has this preconceived notion that 'dangerous' is 'bad.'
He needs to learn that 'dangerous' means 'elevated levels of personal responsibility' and 'holding yourself accountable for your actions.'
He hasn't quite made that leap just yet, but he's trying.
7421104 If Celestia could be stopped. There are really 2 others with the magic to stand up to Celestia readily. How much worse would the damage be. it would be like trying to stop a nuclear blast with another one odds are they would have to use the elements to really do so much like Celestia did with Luna

Is this a budding competition ? Sometimes I find it hard to stem the flow of these and the whole thing just seems to flower and spread, like a certain well known plant of the south. Eventually it just seems to wither and go to seed only to sprout up again in another place and time.
hmm. interesting.

Not only that, but she could ruin lives out of carelessness. Or out of a lack of understanding, both on the primary thing she's trying to influence or on other parties she didn't consider, or on a misguided "goodness."
I suspect that the whole idea she has of coddling her species, if you take it naturalistically, is rather misguided "goodness." People don't grow up and become autonomous automatically, and they certainly don't learn to take care of themselves by being taken care of by someone else.
I suspect the author may disagree with me on this... but perhaps not.
But... this chapter made me think of how you can want "natural balance" though... The example here is Timberwolves, who are "out of balance" and hostile... but they were created by an "outside of nature" party, in order to protect a specific species.
That doesn't sound like "balance" in this vague ephemeral way... I think it sounds more like balance as in "how do I preserve what I want to preserve (ponies, or perhaps just civilization-building life) for as long as possible."
I'm not saying that's wrong or anything, to focus on your own species survival (why wouldn't you?!) but I think understanding what you're striving for in general is a good thing.

Timber wolves, as stated in the story, were created to keep ponies (and other creatures) away from hostile and dangerous magic that might mutate them. Or make them into monsters. Those dark and spooky woods with strange magic? Stay out!
So, they were created in everybody's better interests. Fewer monsters = better living for everybody.
Are you, perchance, meaning to say ascetics?
7421434 You can have cold balance or a logical balance..
Cold balance is simple easy and the most heartless what happens happens IE will of whatever you believe in so you don't interfere things will balance themselves out.
Logical balance is HARD but can be just as cold. you try and balance the harm you do surviving with the impact. This can scale up with all sorts of things. Celestia tries to balance the harm day to day living causes with what her little ponies need. This made harder since she isn't an absolute dictator controlling ever moment of their lives
7420996 That *would* make sense!
Also, I'm beginning to grok why there are so many more alicorns all of a sudden...
"I could have saved you from being raped by the Manticora, but I did not because it´s important for your education."
7421126 Power tools are dangerous...if used by an irresponsible idiot, if used correctly for good reasons they only do good.

If I didn't know any better I'd say Grrr was a Zim reference.
I quite like the Weed World's Celestia. A nice combo of ancient wisdom and trolliness.
Discord is also dangerous and being reformed doesn't make him less dangerous. I suspect the convergence will be connected to generation 1 and I wonder if Scorpan can see the lines too.
