So, another guess as to the nature of Helianthus: since this is the weedverse, one could suspect it has to do with poison joke: it _clones_ alicorns. Or at least, Celly and Luna. Maybe others, but we don't know enough about it. Also the clone is a failure, and doesn't have wings or a horn but are still fairly magical!
>_> no?
might have / might've
You know how we humans would deal with them?

Oh mai, I approve of this, hehehe, nice!
Awesome chapter dude.
It is a very good thing you mentioned Pig iron is magic resistant and actually dangerous. Pig iron in real life is generally just a step in the process of making wrought iron or steel and isn't all that useful.
Overall, a very interesting chapter, especially just learning about some of the ancient threats. Maud's reaction seemed extreme to me at the time, and even after Tarnish's explanation, it still seems a little extreme to me,
7662406
Maud fell apart when she found that Tarnish had been stoned in The Weed.
She had a cutie mark crisis.
The mention of penguins being hostile to Equestria and Porcina having shock troops that are enemies too gives us in total no less than 3 villains that have been reformed in G1 but somehow have stayed evil in the Weedverse. That is not something I like at all.
7662444
Charlatan was redeemed. Exactly where does it say that the rest of his kind were good?
Porcina might have turned over a new leaf, but did the rest of her kind do the same?
7662455 It was never stated that the rest of their kind were evil. The only entirely evil group was the witches of Hydia's family and only a few of them were ever shown.
7662482
Exactly, leaving it open to story telling.
Plus, there were no war pigs in G1, so what's the big deal?
Tell me gunslinger is a dark tower reference....although Danny Williams is Bill Clintons bastard, right?
7662502
Yes, Bill Clinton somehow fucked Jessica Rabbit and had cartoon children.

Well if we get war pigs call the chapter THE BACON STRIKES BACK

So basically making the orignal pony series, more or less, canon?
A rather strange approach but a bit interesting.
Also magic immunity kinda is meanginelss in my opinion. The secret always manipulating something into affecting and letting that effect go on without the magic. For example starting a fire with magic but letting it be sustained without it.........
Or dropping a tree on top of their heads. Also it seems their greatest weakness was revealed here already. Pegasi.
7662561
Yes. The key to defeating the war pigs was a simple little thing called 'unity.'
Unicorns might be vulnerable, well, some, but pegasus ponies and earth ponies can lay the physical smack down upon them.
Penguins hah, so these guys on roids' ?

I don't know if you intended this to be amusing but I did.
7662571
I think Celestia needs to sit down with her guard and outline the scenario to them (militaries are always testing out hypotheticals and considering the MLP world, she needs to take it up). "You need to defeat the War Pigs using all your skills and resources without directly using magic." I can't phrase it correctly but I'm thinking of the scene from Apollo 13 that goes like this:
"We've got to find a way to make this fit into the hole for this using nothing but that."
7662673
General Chesty, armed with dynamite, an elastrator, and a sharpie goes and delivers a devastating smack-down to the war pigs.
Google elastrator if you dare.
7662684 Elastrator? My dad still has one of those from his farming days, and a bag of green rings, those poor lamb tails (and the farm cat's balls)

7662696
Imagine some poor pony getting one of those as a cutie mark.
7662705 Must be a shepherd pony?
pre06.deviantart.net/19db/th/pre/i/2014/016/4/c/new_mlp_oc__sheepskin_shepherd_by_mksfan14-d72htoo.png
First shepherd pic I found, at a guess I'd say the sword was in case of rubber ring shortage, or so the theory goes.
boker.sieper.com.au/cms/uploads/products/10020.jpg
Got one of these too somewhere in a cupboard. That could be the cutie mark if not a crook.
7662684
*cackles* Now that is one way to strike fear into ones enemies.
7662684 So I have a question. Have you ever been called crazy before?
7662961
All the time. Why?
I'm not sure which unsettles me more: Being turned to stone and forced to nothingness for millennia, or being unable to be freed even when good, well-meaning people find you.
7663004
#Thingsthatmakeyougohmm
7662972 Oh just wondering. You know beacuse this comment seemed
7662684 like something that only a crazy person would come up with. Don't worry I'm crazy too.
Carry on good sir.
7662514 okay...I have no idea what Jessica rabbit has anything to do with it. Danny Willams is the name of the man recently in the news begging Clinton for a paternity test. Maybe a coincidence that he shares a name with some fictional character that I have no clue about.
7663074
G1 MLP.
Really. I have no interest in Clinton's bastard children. I don't care.
7664162
While I would agree in general, there are some that aren't worth saving.
See The Scorpion and the Frog.
7663076 I'm sure he has a few out there...
7663076
I know this question may be outside of the purposes of the serie, but if magic is an actual living force in this world, why haven´t been attempts by non unicorns to control and harness it artificially in the same way humans do with electricity? Minotaurs´stiches and Zebra´s hoodoo proof you don´t need a horn to perfom some magic. Why don´t level up from there?
I cannot help but think, if a group of human scientists manage to cross dimensions in order to study magic, they would find a way to create computational sorcery,
Tarnish: turned to stone, raped, neglected as a child, beaten and almost successfully hanged:
Mentally sound.
Maud: Sees husband get turned to stone:
VIETNAM FLASHBACKS AT SIGHT OF STATUE
7670610 Tarnish is hardly mentally sound. Remember, his Confidence is often times lacking and it doesn't take much to start lowering it dramatically. The stone thing doesn't bother him as much, because he didn't really experience it.
Maud on the other hand is fine in most situations, but Tarnish is her weakness. The bits of stone this still carries a lot of weight, because she feared she would loose him forever. She is like Achilles, and Tarnish is her Heel. Strong and immune in so many ways, except for one small area.
7670610
And feels the pain of the being that the statue is compiled over millenia.
7670610
As was said by others, Maud could hear the pain of that alicorn turned to stone, pain that had for a thousand years persisted in plaguing his mind, as well as the growing cancer of that draconequus mutation. Then let's also assume he felt his pieces get broken/ripped off ... and feeling that pain compound whatever the mutation is causing ... and those nerve endings remaining eternally raw and broadcasting the agony of the injury ...
Dem bones
