Huh. Interesting. I did not see Zecora being a spy for Celestia. That's going to complicate things.
7753186
She's been a friend and spy for Celestia since she was much younger. Even over in Zebrica.
There's only one issue with this I can see. Sooner or later, the wrong move, or wrong word can reveal a hand, even with a masterful suite played and nabbing all the tricks. That kinda thing would betray every action you've ever done. Poison the rest too. And I somewhat doubt it will be celestia that reveals it, but luna by nature of this little conversation. And then, then, you have a wolf uncaring amongst everything, willing to let the world burn under a sun that scorned it, used it just like the mafia did.
Twilight might forgive in slight volumes, but she never forgets, never truly forgives. And sociopathic enough to be willing to do everything to survive.
Shit got a lot more interesting...well worth the wait. Now off with ya! We want moar, and while we know we must be patient about it, we always would like a new one soon!
7753345
Yeah, I'll just...get right on that....
*slowly picks up his 3DS and flips it open*
7753276 Words, my dear boy. She forgives, if you deserve it and you're close enough to her, but she never forgets.
7753350 *Slowly pulls out loaded 12G in one hand and Tommy Gun in the other*
7753653
Well this kitchen's hot and I'm worn out, but I can promise you a lot more than ten! They'll just take a while, and you'll have to consume then one at a time. Sound good?
No, Luna, Equestria hasn't annexed the zebras. We need StableTec before we go to war with them.
Another excellent chapter as always. Keep up the good work!
Update!!
World building!!!
LUNA!!!!!
All my happies in this chapter.
Also I wouldn't say no to a Luna-Twilight-Fluttershy hook up.
Well, there is one theory i've heard.
When ponies are born, they are essentially Scions.
They start out as Heroes

When they gain their Cutie Marks and learn the full extent of those powers that they gain by dint of having a Cutie Mark....

And should they become an Alicorn, well.....

It's more of a peytral, actually.
7754133
Somewhat, but a peytral is more along the lines of armor. I refer to it as a yoke because it seems very symbolic to me. You never see her or Luna not wearing their regalia, as if the yoke is just as important as the crowns/tiaras they wear. The yoke is symbolic of them both always bearing the weight of their country upon their breasts, close to their hearts.
7754160 I suppose that that makes sense. Withdrawn.

Awesome chapter dude, and well if Pokemon sun is what's caught your attention now, you could always try speedrunning it.
I love these stupid speedruns.
Was kind of expecting the 'indecent proposal' from Luna to Fancy and Fleaur.
Could be an interesting side story.
7753276 And remember the warning Zecora gives Celestia.
That could go badly for Celestia too, if it ever gets that far and she doesn't stop Twilight Quickly. Cause if she is the leader of the people, even if they don't know that she is bad, and Celestia kills/removes/arrests her, they will see Twilight as a Martyr and Celestia as a Tyrant. Twilight might die, but it would ruin Celestia, probably for eternity with all other races including ponies.
7755476 And from someone that has mystery and subterfuge down as a people to an ingrained level of distrust and viewing. The mafia doesn't know either, so far as we see, so if they see celestia actively purging, with how ingrained they are, it won't be pretty. And yes, we have chekov armed and ready, but really, i'm happy that for all this, celestia is pragmatic, if on the idealistic scale of things. She does want her student helped, if missing just how far she has been warped.
7753679 ONE AT A TIME?!!?!?! Surely you're joking?!
it's decipher
two recently's.
shouldn't that be was?
As for Luna... while I cannot deny that the part of this character most interesting to me is her adjusting to the idea that she doesn't have to be ashamed of being a lesbian, this was a very engaging chapter regardless.
Celestia is kind of coming off as powerless here. Like, utterly, completely. She exhibits a complete lack of conviction, sees a grand total of two paths of action when all logic dictates there are at least seven, and feels like she's much less clever than the characters and story believe her to be.
7756014
Ah, missed all that stuff. Fixed it though.
As for Celestia's presentation, it's more accurate to say that we haven't seen enough of her activities to say just how powerless she may or may not be. Lack of demonstration does not immediately mean her convictions are thoroughly set in stone. We've already seen she's a liar, a manipulator (though usually a benevolent one), and she's willing to let dirty things be done for the greater good, otherwise there wouldn't be any question about it, she'd stop Twilight immediately.
The main issue with Celestia is that she has to be careful. Extremely careful, at all times. Not to mention, there's very little she can do personally that would have a significant impact on what's going on with Twilight. We will, however, get to see some...future incidents, that will shine a light on just how proactive she's trying to be without revealing her hand, so to speak.
There's also the fact that, this early on, there aren't a lot of moves she can make that would make any significant difference.
7756054 It's just especially off-putting because her internal monologue only sees the choice of letting Twilight run absolutely unrestricted, or stopping her immediately. Any good puppet-master knows that the middle-ground is the most fruitful field. Her word-choice makes it seem like keeping tabs on Twilight, or setting up a way to feed her help on the proviso that nopony die, or any number of manipulation tactics are not only out of the question, but not even crossing her mind.
She's not even close to a manipulator in this scene. She's a security camera whose only other function is to activate a shock collar on Twilight Sparkle, and she isn't even bothering to wax poetic about 'if only I could actually help her, or harmlessly slow her down, or turn the lights on so I can see her better'.
7756069
Hmm...probably could've used more elaboration then. I'll just say that you'll have to wait and see in that case. Minds tend to change over time, after all...especially when catastrophic events take place.
7756074 See, I would take heart at that last line, but I re-read the prologue.
7756079
'Any parent worth their salt is a massive hypocrite.' The same can be said for a ruler that prefers to manipulate events from the background, in subtle ways. Celestia has a lot of faith in her student...perhaps too much.
7756096 It's particularly hilarious that she has all this faith in Twilight when this story's Twilight has basically been this horribly damaged pony her entire life, and the revelation that she's been this damaged for this long should have realistically ix-nayed anyone's faith in her.
7756096
Hey, I don't know if you need it, but I'm willing to offer help with Russian, if you're going to be writing any more of it. I spent two years in semi-immersion in Ukraine, so I know more than your average Joe.
just offering.
7756102
I know, right? For all intents and purposes, Celestia should not logically have any faith or trust in Twilight at all. But she does. That says a lot about how much of a risk she's willing to take.
7756116
I will most definitely keep that offer in mind!
Equestria is Canada.
7756694
I need more of these perfectly wonderful Royal Sisters chapters! I absolutely adore your approach to socially awkward Luna, plus the general mood of this chapter just makes me happy.
So a Zebra-Shaman-warrior-alchemist was not cool enough for you, you went and turned Zecora into a Zebra-Shaman-warrior-alchemist-secret-agent.
Nice chapter, good work.
7761076
Her coolness factor was a mere ten. She needed to hit eleven in order to hit rockstar status.
7761076
Zecora's just a dear friend of Celestia. Nothing more, nothing less.
Friendship is magic after all, and Celestia has enough magic to move the Sun. So imagine how many friends she has)))
7733367
Actually, that's canon to my original version of Gadget. She's not very gifted magic-wise, but she can do a few neat tricks. Aside from those though, she's pretty sub-par as far as magic goes.
But this version of her is even LESS gifted, which is saying something. She's more like an earth pony in a unicorn's body at this point, without the natural earth pony magic, and little to no unicorn magic to fall back upon.
It kinda sucks, but she can still beat you into a paste if you piss her off.
7805049
To be fair, she will get better at her magic. It's just going to take some time. It'll probably drive your character up a wall I'm guessing, but hey, no unicorn ever complained about being able to use magic.
Picked this story up 4 days ago...can't seem to put it down. Awesome work Fire Soul. (As well as to any who helped.)
Look forward to see how this will all end.
7757277
Couldn't agree more. Its a smooth switch/change of pace too.
7791730
You have a very interesting point. Who knows?
7761076
Took the words right out of my mouth, I certainly didn't see it coming.
7761086
In any case I like this Zercora very much.
Seems Celestia isn't as idealistic as Twilight accused her of.
7791730
Wait, how powerful does that theory make Pinkie? She is friends with all of Equestria.
