I WILL FIND YOU~
that's kowtowing, but close.

I wasn't sure on the proper spelling, and admittedly I was too lazy at the time to just to a search on Google, soooo yeah I got it wrong. Fixing it now though!
Affecting and affected, but again, close.
7517739 Oh Scystorm, I'll be right behind you.
Slurp. Click. Nice.
7517873
Was it delicious?
I didn't know Fluttershy lived at a College
7517969
...WOW I dropped the ball with this chapter, geez. Fixed.
Hehee, a lovely subversion on this one! And very much looking forward to how its shifted.
This is good. Interesting thing with Zecora.
AND NOW I WANT MOAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
But go at your own pace
Mission 15... isn't that the one where you have to go through the Pig's castle in under 15 minutes?
If so, that can definitely suck all the dicks. I've never beaten that one legitimately.
Okay, there's no children around, Twilight, now's your chance. PUNCH BIGOTRY IN THE FACE, YOU'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THEIR SHIT!
What's everybody looking at me like that for?
Come on, it's Pinkie Pie. She'll barely feel it.
Wait does this mean that chapter are going to come out sooner when the all dick sucking game's missions are completed?
7518711 most likely she will eat that Hoof and spit out a talon or discord or something never tempt the Pie of pink
Nice introduction of Zecora. Sounds like she's had some issues with Equestrian Mages and the nobility in the past. Then again, who hasn't. Looking forward to see how that plays out.
7518834
While it will be fully explained in the next chapter, I think I can reveal this: Zebrican Shamans are the most knowledgeable and secretive potion-makers in the world. They are coveted by all for having the recipe to the greatest potion ever concocted...which they refuse to write down, let alone share.
You can imagine that some ponies and even other races have gone to particularly extreme lengths to try and extract that knowledge from them.
7518902 Ah, no wonder she was so freaked out. Can't blame her for being cautious if that's the case. Gotta love your world building.
7518801 7518576
I've given up on the game for now. I've tried looking at strategies and methods on YouTube, I've tried using the cheats (which were either removed from the game or just straight-up don't work in the HD version), and I've even tried beating my head against the metaphorical wall for hours on end. I have better things to do with my time than that game.
7518910 That... that means more, yes? If so
7518927
I make no promises.
7517916 Oh yeah.
7518910
Shame. The rest of that game is fantastic. it's just that one mission that sucks balls.
I also recomend looking out for Stronghold Crusader. It's Stronghold but better.
7520183
Oh, don't get me wrong, I was absolutely loving the game and the simple personalities of the characters all the way through...until that level. That level ruined the whole thing.
7518711
If anything, when Pinkie gets punched, her face will just fold inward. Everyone says Rarity's the marshmallow, but Pinkie's the one whose consistency has always been in question.
Will Zecora's reaction be explained? I think I might know why she run when Twi told her she knew Zecora was a Shamen, but I'm still a little confused.
7522529
There is a rather lengthy explanation for it coming up in the next chapter, along with a rather lengthy explanation of why and how Twilight both knows fluent Zebrikaans, and knows about Shamans. They aren't exactly commonly known in more modern times.
7522855
Ignorance in general, really.
7522550 Thanks! I think.
7522992
If you like world-building for the sake of world-building, you will probably enjoy it.
7523016 Speaking of which, what's there era of guns? I'd guess the 20s, but I'm not the author.......
7523034
I'm aiming for an era around the 1950s, with liberties taken in either direction on the timeline, as well as factoring in the possibility of Equestria one day getting into the arms race with their own unique designs based around magic.
7523311 I'm a little fuzzy on what guns are used, but if it's the 50s, but I'd expect a LOT more assault rifles, MGs, and semi-auto pistols.....and shotguns for that matter, since you had the M12 AND the Remington 870.
Or at least more than Tommy guns. Pretty good, but it's 1918 design, and it's ungodly heavy, around 8.5 pounds.
7525191
True, but you also have to remember that guns are a fairly new thing in Equestria. Not to mention, while it was designed way back in 1918, it remained a common weapon and also remained in military use all the way through World War 2. Also, the Thompson is practically a staple of any Mafia story taking place during the Prohibition, or anywhere around those times. Whenever I see a Thompson, I instantly think 'american gangster movie'.
Also, a shotgun was used during the Stalliongrad arc. There could have been more variety, but the focus wasn't really on what firearms the security guards were carrying at the time. You also have to factor in the cost of more advanced weaponry against what a private security firm can afford to arm their employees with. A security firm in Stalliongrad ain't gonna shell out the dough for German engineering, if ya know what I'm sayin'.
Don't get me wrong though, there WILL be a greater variety down the line. We just haven't seen much yet because, well...would you really expect my version of Twilight to choose full gung-ho machine gun chaos over a more stealthy silenced pistol, or garrote wire?
7525217 I don't care if Equestria is new to guns, if YOU say it's the 1950s with guns, it's the 1950s with guns. Although with the Tommy guns, you make a fair point.
As for the Germane engineering, you're right, although the Remington 870 was (and still is) VERY cheap, reliable, and, it's a 12G shotgun.
Is this Mafia like the Gangs of the 1920s, only even more evil and douche (they just wanted money, and they were far from honorable, but they didn't make 6 year old prodigies pay off their parents debt)? Because I consider them 2 different things entirely, with some similarities.
The irony with you and your Tommy guns is the reason it didn't sell well was it was $200, plus $50 for the drum (a Model T Ford cost around $400), so unless there was some pony WW2, you actually wouldn't have that shit, since it would be ungodly expensive for a small, poor, private firm.
Can we get some giant-assed world-building blog post so smartasses like me can get into the details of what guns should/would be used and shit that would annoy the hell out of you?
.......damn it I said that out load didn't I?
7525435
This version of the Mafia, if you haven't already guessed, is extremely organized, far more than the real-life Cosa Nostra ever was. There aren't several independent families functioning under the same banner, there is a single united family being guided by one of the most powerful stallions in Equestria, who is in the perfect position to get away with a lot of things simply because all he has to do is give the order, and the job's done for him. While Celestia may not know exactly who this pony is, she knows it's someone on the Mage's Council. There's a reason even she is afraid of crossing them.
Also, there's more to what the Mafia's done than establishing control. They're after something, even if almost none of them know exactly what that thing is.
The inherent problem with assigning real-world monetary value to things like the good ol' chicago typewriter is that there are a lot of different variables to this. Keep in mind that the gun designs in this story are all foreign. The tommy gun itself isn't of Equestrian design. It's from the Minoan Republic. Just the same, some other guns are manufactured in Griffonstone. This factor alone could make these guns far more expensive than you'd normally expect them to be...which should say a lot about how Ruby Red had an entire crate of drums just sitting around in the hallway of her home. There's also the fact that this story takes place in a world where magic is available. That has to have a huge impact on the manufacturing of these weapons as well.
tl;dr, too many variables to reliably determine the scarcity, price or general availability of guns we'd normally have a documented price tag for, and I'd have to sideline entire chapters if I actually wanted to try to go through the trouble of figuring all of that out.
As for world-building, bruh, I love world-building. To a very unhealthy degree, potentially.
7525535 You'd be surprised at what organized crime pulled off.....but even they weren't THAT organized....
I would agree fully with what you said about the price (or rather, how hard it is to gauge), but combining real-life facts (i.e. they first made 15,000 M1921s, which had a RoF of about 800 rpm, although the M1919s had the abysmal 1200 rpm), and some common sense about this world (i.e. magic), I'd say this
Not quite sure, but I'd guess the main reason the Tommy was so expensive (I lied, the drums mags were $5, NOT $50) because they were machined, instead of pressed, and that that first batch was incredibly well made, or so I've heard. Combine this with imported, and you have some VERY pricey firearms. On the other hand, those were M1921s, and this is quite a bit later in the 50sish (although I'm pretty sure semi-autos had their kinks ironed out long before then), and magic might make the process easier (and therefore cheaper), but there are a few to many unknowns (mainly one-was there a war? If there was, and the Tommy was used, exporting a now-mostly obsolete gun that you have 1 million of lying around or so, they're be cheap as dirt. If not, they're expensive exports and would still be very effective, because even with 1950s guns, it's not 1950s guns, mainly since you wouldn't have assault rifles and might not have Remington 870.)
It's stuff like this that makes me do a SHIT ton of personal world building (I'm kind of working on this story of mine, but still have a long way to go even before chapter 1 is done), and I do it so I can have a full and "realistic" picture of what it would look like and be.
7525839
Hey, I know what you mean. I mean, research about that kind of stuff is important if you want to cling to realism, but you also have to keep in mind what the feel and general theme of your story is going to be. Yeah, I could make all of that stuff a factor in the kinds of guns used, but the guns aren't really a main focus of the story. Still, if you're willing to put that much work into it, then by all means. World-building is fun! My mentality towards the guns is this: everything tends to follow a pattern or rhythm. In the case of firearms versus their use over the years, and weapons in general really, older models have always wound up lasting a particularly long time on the market before being fully phased out. Bows and arrows alongside crossbows, people continuing to use maces, swords and axes at the same time such long-range weapons existed. Heck, we've still got countries that turn to the AK-47, and how old is that damn thing? The tommy gun still being around in my story and being widely available just seems very plausible when you follow that line of thinking.
That being said, this story has a deep focus on character development and what many will likely say is a very slow progression of the main plot thus far. We're almost thirty chapters in and I'm not even a quarter of the way through this beast, or that's my estimate at least.
7525960 All so true. Everyone says "It's about the story and plot, not the guns and technical details"

...When really, it's about adorable pones being adorable.
Game of Thrones is a perfect example of developing your characters at a pace that lets the audience get attached to them. Then George kills them, because that's one of the general themes of that book series and that show. It's dark, gritty, and none of it feels forced. The characters converse, develop naturally, and form bonds with each other in various ways, be they political or more personal. That makes them easier to understand and relate to for the audience, and thus makes the audience more invested. They can't wait to see what happens next, be it a positive or negative twist to the story.
If you're gonna include lots of world-building, it should fit the theme of the story, or at least not be shoved in the reader's face all at once. Well I mean, that's my opinion on it. I'm sure every reader has different preferences.
7526010 XD so true.
But ya, most of my world building is behind the scenes stuff, like what tanks and guns and planes and names make sense. The audience doesn't give a damn about that, I do it so I can get all my shit together.
7541585 I'm saving that for later use.
Sizzle the Salamander... I like it.
Still not as good as Smackie the Frog though. (And anyone who knows where that's from wins an Internet cookie)
7526010
Re-reading this whole damn thing. Feel like a bit of an asshole now, but that's just me. Although, speaking of guns, two things: guns that can be cheaply mass-produced, and are reliable, are by far the most popular, well known, and best guns. That's why the AK-47 is still used by some:they made, like 100million of them, and they have SEVEN moving parts, giving them their Legendary reliability. Which leads to my second thing. In the Eternal Night arc, Twilight mentioned that semi autos had a tendency to jam, but in the same breath, said that she owned a 1911 semi auto pistol. The Colt (the horse puns are writing themselves!) 1911 is one of the most reliable handguns ever made. The Glock, which has been shown to survive some insanely torchure tests, is based of the same double-action design.
8283265
... So hence why she owns an 1911 then...
Edit: If she wants reliable, then there's no reason for her not to own a 1911... I don't get this comment.
