I believe the phrase is "oh, fuck the hell yes."
That was a truly awesome battle scene, and I loved the description of the Elements.
Wow you really did well in this chapter! Not to say you didn't do good in the other but this one was attention grabbing. You did well explaining feelings and action to be able to combine both of them! Something many people have problems with. Can't wait to read more!
when will we have Luna faces?

I was waiting for it. I was fucking waiting for the reference, I knew it was coming, it was too easy a reference to make!

I'm glad to hear you all enjoyed it! I had a rough time with it all, but I'm glad I finally get to move on to the epilogue.
moar please

*pulls away the plate of new chapters* Eat your peas first, then you can have dessert.
6666416 I hate peas but if youll give us Moar ill eat them...as long as there is cheese
Well played, Twilight! Well played!
Seriously, if you got her mad, Flutters could be a force to be reckoned with! Dash is a blackbelt in karate, Flutters apparently is a black belt in Shiatsu!
(finishes reading)
WHOO!!! That was freakin' AWESOME!!!
6666793
Awesome! And now...the epilogue. The one where questions get answered, and everyone parties WAY too hard!
6666404 Epilogue? But we haven't even reached the prologue! That's some weird ordering, having the epilogue before the prologue.
6666823
It took me a minute to put together what you were getting at, but I think you're confused because I didn't explain well enough. It's just the epilogue to the Eternal Night arc with Nightmare Moon. Not the epilogue of the story as a whole. Technically speaking, I haven't even started yet!
Poor Twilight having all that power but it doesn't matter when your opponent is like goddamn Majin Buu, I mean if they can recover from bullets in the brain and having their skull caved in it's gonna take some real crazy shit to beat 'em.
I liked the chapter a lot though, Twilight finally gets to cut loose some and I think you did a fine job explaining her using the Elements of Harmony. The EoH have always been a bit of a mystery as to how they work, so it's not surprising Twilight's entire thought process during the Elements doing their thing is like "Wait, how the hell are they doing that?".
I maybe feel like the rest of the Mane 6 were uncharacteristically quiet once they actually arrived, not even throwing out their own taunts or jibes at Nightmare Moon. I can kind of understand them being more in the background this chapter though, at this point they've already had their moments in the sun and now it's Twilight's turn.
Anyways NMM is beaten so that means victory orgy between Luna, Celestia, and the Mane 6 right? Though seriously I'm interested to know what this whole situation is going to mean for Twilight, and whether she'll be staying in Ponyville and continuing along the rest of the MLP show canon. Looking forward to whatever it is though .
(Also I'm glad Twilight finally got some decent use out of those guns even if they're now crumpled pieces of trash)
6666857 Glad to hear it! Even if it wasn't, I would be very surprised if there wasn't at least a sequel to fit that prequel chapter in.

There's actually a REALLY easy way to keep Nightmare Moon/Luna and even Celestia out of commission for a theoretically permanent amount of time. Here's a hint: they need to be able to regenerate their brains to function like any other living creature!
It's just so ballstastically simple that Twilight didn't think of it.
Fantastic. You handled this arc beautifully, and the battle in this chapter in particular is masterfully crafted to be a very memorable fight without being dull or too chaotic to follow.
This is undoubtedly one of the two best Return of Nightmare Moon arcs I've read here on FiMFic. Just, incredibly well done.
i wonder if celestia is going to be pissed that twilight just basically tried to kill her sister
That was a really awesome way to re-make the NMM confrontation. I loved it.
I can't wait to see Twilight beat the crap outta mafiosos. Maybe the Apple Clan? :)

6668290
Oh, Twilight's not one for head-on confrontation, usually. She enjoys it, but where she excels is killing you before you realize you're being targeted. Preferably in your sleep, but she's flexible about these things!
The Apple Clan isn't a Mafia-like group, sadly. They're just really, really good at what they do. Shame really, I would've loved to write about Twilight taking a baseball bat to Applejack's hindlegs until they look more like mashed-up hamburger.
Great chapter! Twilight getting NMM all horny was hilarious, even if it was very silly...I wonder if Luna will remember that...: "Sister, you have one dirty minded student! *Luna blushing furiously*"
I really liked that Twilight is that strong, and that for once, the big advantage Celestia/Luna have over mortals, is their experience/control/focus rather than practically unlimited magic.
I wonder what Celestia will say now...
6667101
Pump her brain full with lead? sever her head? mind magic?
6668986
You nailed it on the head! Pun not intended!
Consider this scenario: Twilight blows NMM's brains out. While she's regenerating, she shoves a bunch of rocks into her skull, and holds them in there until the skull closes up around them. With nowhere for the brain to regenerate into, NMM is no longer able to function. Still alive in a loose sense of the word, but completely defenseless because she's essentially a vegetable until someone gets those rocks out of there.
It's so simple, so basic, that there was no way Twilight would've thought of it in the middle of everything that was going on.
As for Luna, well...mum's the word on that. For now.
6668792 it doesn't surprises me Twilight would be some kind of assassin, even though I love how you write action and how she fights, I wonder how she'll use mind magic.
And I should check if someone wrote about Apple Mafia. ( sorry for the poorly written post, I'm actually using my phone which autocorrect in French )
6670632
Ah, it's no big deal! You got the message across just fine. As for Twilight being more of an assassin...perhaps you'll get to see that somewhere down the line? Who knows? I mean I know, but PFF THAT'S not...um. Yeah.
6669162
It actually kind of bugged me how poorly Nightmare Moon defended herself. Her magic being outdated makes sense, but surely she'd have exotic/unique spells. It felt like Twilight was made more aggressive and dangerous in this story, but everyone else is playing with kiddy gloves, relatively speaking, like they're still in the cartoon (even if they do use violence).
6686106
Consider, if you will, how differently your mentality towards violence would be if you could recover from anything and everything, just about. What reason would you ever have to defend yourself if every injury you get can simply be shrugged off? What, you're in pain for a brief period of time? It's nothing she hasn't felt before. Chances are, she's felt far, far worse.
Why was she so calm and indifferent to whatever Twilight threw at her? Because she didn't need to care about her physical well-being.
As for more exotic or unique spells, well...she's a thousand years out of date. However exotic or unique they might be, I can guarantee Equestria's developed a whole lot of spells based off of Starswirl's studies by now. A thousand years is a really long time, when you think about it.
As for the others, they totally aren't fighters naturally. Fighting constructs? Sure. Anypony could put up a decent enough defense. Throwing down with a powerful, seemingly immortal alicorn? Mmph...that's a whole 'nother ballgame.
6686364
You just pointed out the rather glaring weakness in regeneration. Has it seriously never occurred to anyone to just keep hitting someone before they regenerate? It's hard to believe ponies in the past were less willing to follow through than those in the modern era.
I could understand her lack of self protection if sufficient damage just resulted in rematerializing elsewhere, but if applied violence was a plausible solution to her how the heck was she going to take over anything? If this is a world where you can gun down an immortal, and a character could do it if they just had one rather easy to imagine insight, then it's hard to believe she would get any farther than a well-equipped psychopath would in the real world.
Somewhat related is that it felt like she relied a lot on generic blasts and such. Purely from an entertainment perspective and not an effectiveness one, the lack of style was lame.
6686460
Wait...I feel like there's been a misunderstanding previously that's causing a misunderstanding now. No amount of damage will stop Luna or Celestia from regenerating from their injuries. They're immortal like that. When Mossflower said 'pumping her head full of lead', I think I thought he meant like...filling her skull with molten lead so her brain can't regenerate.
As for the lack of style, once again, Nightmare Moon doesn't care enough to be stylish about trying to beat a lone mage and her friends down so she can brainwash them to be her unwavering servants until the day they all die. I think I wrote about that in the chapter, actually.
I know it's a bit late, but...
I figured Twilight could relate to this.
6686485 So they're like Rampage from PH? (She's survived being beheaded, turned to ash, and being headshot by hollow point 12.7mm rounds).
7258992 and much, much, MUCH more.
The bit where Twilight was talking dirty to Nightmare Moon, was pretty funny. Some good points were brought up, too.
Also liked the interesting glimpses into how magic works in this story. I'm starting to get enough info to begin making guesses. I love making guesses.
I like this addition. It's almost exactly my excuse why my characters don't use healing spells all the time and in fact dissuade others from using them as well.
Holy throne...
