Wow. That scene between Twilight and Granny Smith is so touching.
you might be surprised.....

Despite my hatred of writing dialogue, I actually enjoyed writing that entire conversation between them a lot!
To be fair, Granny's health has been pretty flexible through the show's runtime. Some days she's (literally) bunny-hopping over watering cans, some days she's down with a case of Charlie Horse.
"I was used as a brain-murder tool by the mafia, and their monopoly on Canterlot has left me in a situation where the only way I'll be able to get any sleep at night is if I wipe them all out. Completely. And utterly. And I enjoy it."
And then Granny Smith calls in a favor with Celestia.
In other words, fun chapter. If Twi tells anypony about her secrets, it'll probably be Granny.
That reminds me of something Chibi Neko said once in her review of the Garfield Christmas Special. To paraphrase.....

If this were the kind of story that allowed that, it'd be amazing. The Apple Family secretly being the biggest crime syndicate in Equestria, and Celestia's got all of them in her pocket.
Granny Smith is the embodiment of the good side of my family.

Celestia?
Us Apples deal with our own, on our own.
Mac!... Get me the ole two spit and some pine apples.
*Cich-chik!*
Oh, look the timber wolves are coming. I wonder if it's to Make Twi their alpha... Well if not then she will be by the time she's done with their pack.
Granny's buried her fair share of snitches in the desert.

Funny you should mention timberwolves....
7457342 well, they are Rainbow Dash's favorite flavor.
Awesome Chapter I love it.
7457251 Twi or Flutterbat its a toss up
It sure does do more than make my day when you post another chapter. I love this story and cannot wait for more, then my fun will be doubled! That was bad and i should feel bad.
7457543 too soon for flutterbat.

Aww, thank you! Always makes my day when a comment like this comes along.
The ending was so fluffy. It jus kinda made you forget what's happened before and focuses on that feeling of everything being okay. It was suprising to see considering most of the story and refreshing from the usual violence or thoughts of less than happy things. I love the story so far and I can't wait till you post the next chapter!
Hmmm, I liked the little detail of Twilight being constantly alert and twitchy.
Good chapter!

This entire story is a practice in maintaining realism in a world where magic, a kind of ethereal force that everyone can use in some way or form, actually exists and is a part of everyday life. That means applying rules to it, limiting it, or it becomes overpowering. That also means maintaining a level of realism when it comes to the characters and the lives they live, especially Twilight.
Her life hasn't been a complete brooding mess, and that's never how it is for anyone except the most miserable and unfortunate of individuals in the world. There will be bad times, there will be good times.

Yeah, I figured that ponies would have a lot more tells than humans do. Got those tails flicking with excitement or nervousness, they have to move their ears more to hear their surroundings more clearly, they have really big and expressive eyes and features...makes sense, really.
A thought has entered my mind! What if Twilight's time in mafia and Applejack's parents absence are connected!
You know, your Twilight would get along real well with this Twilight. I'd love to see that author crossover.
Granny Smith is like my mom, they seem to catch on to little signs in your behavior and just read you like a book.
Its last scene was so peacefull ... Something very bad will happen
Rumbling dirt? Diamond Dogs. They're gonna grab Twilight, Spike, maybe AB, proly flutters, and maybe Big Mac. They don't know what they're getting themselves into.

Oh, I know that feeling. In any case, the issue with Twilight's argument is that some murderers don't really have a choice in what they do. Not a true one, anyways. They may make the conscious decision to kill, but there's a very real chance that something in their head, a thought or impulse or feeling, has been wearing down their resolve or influencing their decisions subconsciously the entire time.
Then you have cases like the Weepy-Voiced Killer.
I don't recall the exact year or years when this guy was active, or whether or not he was caught, but there was a killer who would commit murders, possibly without even consciously realizing he was doing them, and then call the police immediately to rat on himself before running away from his crime. He would constantly say things like 'I don't know why I did this' and 'there's something wrong with me' and 'I need help'. He always sounded remorseful and full of regret for his actions.
For obvious reasons, this man was mentally unstable and probably very sick, and it's quite possible that he actually had zero choice in what he did. While some would argue that this man needs to be put to death immediately for the safety of everyone around him, others would argue that he's mentally ill and needs to be put in the proper facilities so they can help him. Both sides aren't entirely wrong. His death would guarantee he wouldn't kill anymore, but at the same time, where do you draw the line with that line of thinking? Under that logic, every single prisoner in the world convicted of murder should be executed because who knows what they might do. Yet on the other end of the spectrum, yes, perhaps after years of burning through taxpayer money, he might be able to recover from his mental illness, but what if he relapses? Suddenly we've got a murderous psychotic out there, and we might not be able to hunt him down this time because he's learned. He knows what to expect, and he has a better idea of how to avoid being caught or tracked.
The simple truth is, there's no perfect solution to this situation. Both of those answers have their pros and cons, but a perfect solution would have no cons, only pros. Perhaps once medical science knows exactly how the human mind works and we can actually directly fix anomalies in the development of the brain, then we'll have our perfect solution. Until then, it's impossible to give an answer that satisfies everyone.
I would still choose to execute him though. Perhaps that's cold or cruel of me, but I'm thinking of the safety and well-being of everyone else. I'm not going to sit here and feel bad for a single serial killer when there are plenty of far more stable and beneficial individuals that could be saved through his death.

Neat! Where have you seen Gadget before? I love finding out where people have found my character! Feel free to PM me if you want.
I think these are pretty relevant to this story.
