I feel like this deserves someone doing an impression of a football commentator saying something about a well made and speedy delivery.
Sadly, I am not that person.
That was the moment I realized what was going on. Awesome story.
Too awesome for words.
Hang on, maybe Twilight saved a copy of some books in the tree-- oh right...
Okay I was expecting something else entirely.
Feel there should be more build up to the big moment, and everypony should act more seriously about the books, and Rainbow Dash should be more confused about why everypony is taking it so seriously, and everything else should be more extreme.

Not everything needs to be "extreme". Sometimes a cute silly moment should just be allowed to be a cute silly moment.

What style is that, out of curiosity?
4369436 I meant it starts off as making you think it's serious about a serious issue, then you realize it's being silly about a silly issue, and it gets sillier from there. Yours started off somber(serious) about, seemingly, close friends of Twilight's dying(serious issue), then it was revealed it was about the books( a silly issue which changed all prior serious moments to silly moments), and then Rainbow goes from stating it was a silly issue before treating it like a serious issue(sillier). Many stories do this, and I feel generally the more extreme every moment is the better it works over all. Although it takes more effort to properly make every moment extreme, and this is clearly meant to be a quick to write, quick to read fic.
I believe this story is fantastic. The twist in the middle of the story was amazing. What began as it seems as thought Twilight’s marefriends died in combat was actually the books of the Golden Oak Library. It may sound silly mourning for books but this is Twilight we're talking about. I like the comedy of Rainbow Dash mourning "Daring Do".
What I wished this story could improve on was more dialogue for every character and more inner thoughts from Twilight. That would certainly set in stone the goodness of this story.
