The colony of Myinnkyun had enough problems without Peridot vanishing — trade ships were disappearing, and the island's native minotaurs had launched an attack on the city walls.

But now there's talk that she was murdered, and the city is about to tear itself apart before its enemies have the chance.

One part Spoon River Anthology and one part Rashomon, this story invites you to piece together the story of Myinnkyun's last days — and Peridot's final night — from the dreams of its inhabitants. "Dreams cannot lie," the Nightmares say, but everybody has a different understanding of the truth ...

Now with an official epilogue, thanks to the contest!

Highly Recommended by Present Perfect! "Once again, horizon attempts something ambitious and in doing so effortlessly shows us how to write a story."

Rated ★★★★★ by Louder Yay! "If you're in the market for something truly original and are willing to work for your reward, drop everything and read this."

Praised by Cold in Gardez: "Dreams is the best story I've read in a long time. It deserved to win the last Writeoff, and if it had been a prose story instead of a poem, it probably would have ... but it wouldn't have been the work of art that it is."

Recommended by Titanium Dragon: "Really, you don’t need to be a connoisseur of poetry to appreciate this – the form of the poetry didn’t matter so much as the mystique it lent the piece."

Praised by Skywriter: "This story is destroying me right now. I mean, I'm just sitting here at my desk crying because of it. I don't know what else to do."

Rated Why Haven’t You Read These Yet? by PaulAsaran: "Poetry isn't my medium … [yet that] does nothing to dissuade my satisfaction with an ambitious concept and a fascinating delivery."

Reviewed by Chris: "The more you put into it, the more you're going to get out ... if you're looking for something opaque, surprising, and even poignant—and especially if you enjoy piecing together stories for yourself—consider this highly recommended."

"Light and Darkness exist alone; But shadow lies between their zones
Fickle truth, and little wit; Take the reigns and bite the bit
Can you not see- never did hear? Patience alone brings death near!
Destiny brings all to close; but of your fate, no one knows"
- Unknown, 341 Anno Domina

A darkness lies in Canterlot- a place abandoned, for those left to rot
A colt, dying, without a name- saved now by princess's shame
A tale woven, end long foretold- powers play beyond the fold
Is it destiny, is it fate- for them all soon to suffocate?
Celestia saved the abandoned foal- only for him to pay the toll
But family now, soon, forever- Solstar's instincts always clever
Can they learn, can they wake- smell the fire 'fore day break?
A wretched light, a noble crime- shadows between have blurred the line.

He wants peace- she, a son; but have either of them really won?
Their lives in warring gods' hands; their story's outcome is already planned...

Twilight Sparkle is a troubled pony who just wants to understand—magic, history, the Elements of Harmony, how other ponies work, and how to live a functional, fulfilling life like everypony else. She excels in everything she does, because all she does is read. Some things are just harder for some ponies. But when she sets her sights higher, toward exploring the obscure terrain of interpony relationships and navigating the circuitous history of the Elements, she learns more than any book she's read could tell her. The world has its secrets for a reason.

Inspired by fiction in the vein of, e.g., HPMOR, Worm, Luminosity, Ra, and To the Stars. Some say he is just an urban legend. Others call him a ghost. Others still call him a heartless monster, living on nothing but rage, fear, and isolation.

But what is the real story behind "the Phantom Pony of Everfree"?

Fluttershy accidentally wanders into the territory of the pony everyone fears, and she is a witness to his cold, frightening fury. Scared to tears, Fluttershy is determined never to cross him again. But later, she witnesses something thought to be impossible, and deduces for herself that this "Phantom" is really a gentle, kind pony who merely suffers from the pain of loneliness. She then strives to learn the secrets behind this menace of a pony: who he is, why he lives in the woods, and why he is so angry.

The Phantom Pony, Nocturne, wants nothing to do with Fluttershy, and wants to avoid her at all costs. But his feelings toward her, and her friends, fluctuate over time, and he finds his mind and heart slowly changing. Whether for better or for worse, he is unsure, and he finds himself helpless against the kind light of a mare who may just know him better than he knows himself.

A rewrite of "Kind Light - A Gentle Dark Supplemental", combined with the rewrite of Chapter 1 of "The Gentle Dark".

Special thanks to the amazing Spirit Shift, a man far more talented than I, for the incredible artwork of the title character.

Retrograde amnesia is temporary or permanent loss of memory.

Anterograde amnesia is the temporary or permanent loss of the ability to form memories.

Twilight Sparkle now suffers from the latter of the two. Yet nevertheless, her saddlebag continues to increase in weight, filling up with scribbled-down postulations, warnings of the most unsavory kind, trinkets resplendent with lost meaning, and notes detailing a morning that she will never remember. Does she have the ability unveil the truth with evidence and a steel-trap mind in spite of a severe head injury?

[CURRENTLY BEING REWORKED DUE TO LOSS OF NOTES! SEE MY BLOG POST "Plans Moving Forward" FOR INFO!]

Twilight and Sunset are good friends. Some might even say they are the best of friends. Connected by a magic mirror, the two begin to experiment with the idea of being something more than friends.

However, this idea is made more complicated when said magic mirror begins to mysteriously crack, and if it keeps cracking, it will seal the gateway between the two worlds forever. In order to make sure that doesn't happen, Sunset returns to Equestria to help find a way to stop it. Will she and Twilight succeed, or will they have to say goodbye to their friends at Canterlot High forever? Will they make new friends along the way? All they know for sure is that they have to try.
