Takes place after Stare Master. When almost losing Twilight Sparkle to a cockatrice, Apple Bloom becomes afraid of losing Twilight again. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo tell Twilight about this, Twilight sets up a private conversation between her and Apple Bloom. Can Twilight help make the young filly feel better?

This is my take on the underrated friendship between Twilight Sparkle and Apple Bloom. I'm surprised there aren't any other stories about them together.

Life is hard for Applejack, because she's a farm pony, because she's an earth pony, but mostly because her body is composed of enigmatic and mysterious dark matter. Some days in particular are just not good for a super-heavy pony with her own gravitational pull.

Tucked between the farthest hills of Sweet Apple Acres, hidden by the oaks that border Whitetail Woods, sits a knoll with a single tree. Beneath the branches of this tree are two stones, marking the final resting place of two special ponies. Each year, the Apple family make a trip together to visit the site of their dearly departed kin, a trip that starts with fond memories and always ends in tears.

At least, such is the case for most of the family. The youngest Apple, however, has struggled to form the same emotions, especially in recent years. So, on a whim, she decides to make a separate trip to visit her parents – this time, with a friend.

It's been nine long months since Applejack had conceived her baby. The day had finally come where she could give birth and bring a new life into the world. It's a time of celebration for all her friends and family.

However, she is not as quick to join in the celebrations. A nagging feeling dwells within her that things won't go as planned. Memories of her mother passing during giving birth to Apple Bloom plague her mind and she can't help but feel that she won't survive the birth. It's a gut feeling. And her gut feelings are never wrong.

At peace with her possible passing, she allows herself to be transported to the hospital to experience the miracle of life... and death.

The Battle of Klugetown was a triumph. A huge success. The combined army of ponies, thestrals, and hippogriffs had liberated the slaves and overthrown Verkos' criminal regime with minimal causalities. Applejack's family anxiously awaited her return, with Applebloom eagerly wanting to hear about the epic battle and the countless acts of heroism that her big sister surely must have carried out.

Indeed, Applejack did have much to tell her family. Not only that, she was also bringing two familiar faces back to Sweet Apple Acres.

Johnny is a typical Southern boy from a small town in Tennessee who just happens to enjoy My Little Pony, but hates a certain orange workhorse for her stereotypical behavior. Soon, he finds himself hiding out in an abandoned barn waiting out a storm only to wake up in Sweet Apple Acres and in front of Applejack. Johnny doesn't see eye to eye with her, but when Applebloom and her friends are stolen away from the farm during the middle of the night, he finds out there is more to this pony than meets the eye. Can the two form a fast friendship in their effort to locate the CMC, or will they have to dig a few graves for three little fillies?

Far in the West, out in the frontier, Babs Seed and Apple Bloom have found an adventurous, satisfying life. Business at their bar is booming and supporting Sweet Apple Acres, ending Applejack's economic woes (for the time being). Babs has reunited with her father and the savior of her foalhood, Turner. North of no-pony's land, Citrus, Libra, and Braeburn are thriving in Appleloosa, though tensions between the locals and an influx of emigrants threaten to shatter peace in the tiny town.

Far in the East, in the belly of the beast, the once-glorious city of Manehatten has collapsed into a haze of unimaginable chaos and depravity at the hooves of its King. A King whose chessboard is rapidly expanding and whose Knights march to conquer and annex in the name of their Master.

When East and West clash at last, who will be left standing?

Third installment in the alternate universe timeline started by Tangled Roots. Preceded by Sweet Apple Anthology and beginning from the first story's Epilogue.
