After everything that went on at Camp Everfree, Twilight has finally come home and now she can rest easy without any worry of magical demons like Midnight Sparkle.

Until she's suddenly awakened by none other than Midnight Sparkle. Though, something's different about her. She seems... less threatening and more annoying.

Twilight has an imaginary girlfriend!
Well, she has girlfriend that only existst in her head, but those are close enough.
But could you imagine if her friends found out? Wouldn't that be a pickle.
Guess she'll have to keep things quiet.
If only the voice in her head would remember that.

Set before Camp Everfree and completely disregards what happens in it, because I started writing it before then and forgot to upload it. Direct all praise to chuck-vic-norris who somehow manages to turn my the typo-filled mess into something somewhat tolerable.

The Library of the Crystal Empire vanished for 1,000 years with the city itself, taking (and ironically preserving) ancient tomes of magic long thought lost to Equestria. Now, in order to protect their own world from Equestrian magic, Sunset Shimmer and the human Twilight Sparkle will plumb the library's depths, accompanied by Starlight Glimmer, Sunburst, and the Great and Powerful Trixie, in order to find the answers they seek.

But soon they are swept up in an experiment conducted by none other than Starswirl the Bearded, who seeks to aid a friend of Equestria, the infamous Tempest Shadow (Fizzlepop Berrytwist) in restoring her broken horn.

One magical ritual, a dose of dimensional-duplicate-insecurities, and a mountain of existential crises later, and... well. Let's just say that Starlight might finally have some company in the "I destroyed Equestria" club.

Ever since the incident at the friendship games, Twilight struggles to sleep.

Midnight Sparkle doesn't make it easy.

But lucky for her, Sunset Shimmer can see those insecurities and fears a mile away, and is always happy to help a friend.

As a thank you, and upon seeing the potential in her, Twilight Sparkle has invited Sunset Shimmer to be a part of her team. Sunset has absolutely no idea what she's doing and she does not feel like she belongs; Whether if its from her regrets of trying to pursue power desperately and being corrupted by it, or her immense failure as Celestia's first pupil, or even her general inexperience with friendship, Sunset Shimmer has been humbled into nothingness, and has to rebuild her life from scratch.

And most complicated of all, Sunset Shimmer is now in love with Twilight Sparkle, the girl that changed her life for the better, and saved her from herself. She will keep these feelings extremely close to the chest; but her heart is on her sleeve now.

Can Sunset Shimmer improve? Can she be worthy and deserving of the friends that were imposed upon her? Could she possibly ever deserve to be side by side with a princess? Can she earn Twilight Sparkle's love?

Can she belong? Or is all of this temporary... And eventually she will have to move on, to anywhere more fitting of her insignificance? Are things destined to go wrong around her?

Twilight Sparkle, still adjusting to her new role as a Princess of Equestria, finds herself plagued by stress and self-doubt as she questions her worth to her friends and to her country. Unknown to everypony, Twilight included, she has become possessed by the same force that turned Princess Luna into Nightmare Moon. Soon, Twilight is transformed into Midnight Sparkle, self-proclaimed Queen of Magic and sets off to conquer Equestria for herself. Desperate, her friends reluctantly team up with Sombra in order to get their Twilight back and end the threat that started a thousand years ago once and for all.
