I mentioned in my last post that this latest chapter (session 1.25) has been a pain to write. It has. Ignoring irl issues of course (heat, work, fatigue, illness) I've been grafting at the laptop to define the uncertainty in Calmys heart whilst also expanding on his outside life. In some ways, it's hard for me to imagine Calmy (cool, mostly confident, often in control) outside of his office. Its been a real pig as of late to finish the latest chapter of Mind Over Midnight. I can see what I want but can't quite grasp it.

Nonetheless, I've finished the V1 of the latest chapter. It needs work, a lot of editing etc, but feasibly should be up within the week.

The latest chapter of Mind Over Midnight is done. Two away from a 'stretch goal' of some custom cover art I'll treat myself to. The fic is going in some interesting ways I didn't 100% intend, but such is the way with fiction. The core is still there of course. First of all I'd like to thank Estee, some of her notes regarding her latest piece (Monster Girl In Equestria) really helped me gain a more critical eye over my own work. I certainly re-evaluated scenes and cut what felt like cliché content, some of which( in hindsight) just wouldn't have made sense with where this is going and what I want it to be.

Work has been VERY busy within the last week, so much so I've not had much time to write and what little free time I've available has been spent on other pursuits, much to my semi-frustration. I realise beating myself up over a fan-fic is ridiculous, but my goal is to improve as an author and part of that is following some of Steven Kings advice, most notably writing a minimum of 500 words a day.

Whilst I've been generally happy with the way things are going with Mind Over Midnight, I mentioned in the last chapter some struggles in moving things forward. Cohesion and better planning are necessary, as such I've been taking my loose notes from here/there/everywhere and getting them all into a unified whole.
