First of all I'd like to thank Estee, some of her notes regarding her latest piece (Monster Girl In Equestria) really helped me gain a more critical eye over my own work. I certainly re-evaluated scenes and cut what felt like cliché content, some of which( in hindsight) just wouldn't have made sense with where this is going and what I want it to be.
Now, this chapter.
It's a big deal to me frankly, lots of big important stuff being set up and revealed. It's also where I feel I'm at my weakest. I've always leant more into screenwriting, I see scenes in my mind acted out with big budgets and talented performers. The problem is I never feel comfortable in my skill at translating that to page when it comes to prose. It never quite reaches what I want it to be. There are points in this chapter that should have a real 'oomph' to them, that I intended to have 'oomph', whether you guys and girls feel it I can't say. I hope you do though.
When it comes to the more serious aspects I hope I've not offended anyone. I've been researching in my spare time to give both a sense of realism and legitimacy to the story, though there will be some creative licence in certain aspects both to reflect the nature of this stories origin ( Magical pony people) and for narrative purposes. That doesn't mean I'll cut corners, nor does it mean I'll be falling into tropes about drug addiction, D.i.D and any other mental health issues, merely that sometimes things happen because this is a story, the protagonists always get knocked about a bit before triumphing, as is the way with all stories.
I've changed the tags to represent a slight difference in the story, the plan was very loose when the first chapter was created but it's certainly more focused now.
If anyone has any questions i'm more than happy to answer them in as much of a a non-spoilery fashion as I can.
its definitely much more focused now and ive beem quite impressed on how youve progressed while writing this. cant wait to see what else is in store
