Sweet Old Love

Two blogs ago, I mentioned having a May Pairings fic completed. Well, this is it!

Everybody Needs Somebody (inspired by the Dean Martin song of the same name) came from an idea in an abandoned fic that never got off the ground. Namely that Equestria Girls Kibitz (still an assistant to Celestia, albeit in a more mundane sense in the human world) was sweet on Granny Smith.

Two older co-workers, one a widow, one conspicuously single...well it just writes itself.

Also, we see so little on Fimfiction regarding EQG Granny Smith, who is definitely a different character despite the similarities, that I wanted to throw something out there. Just the basics of her being a lunch lady add a new element to the characters whole world view.

Which is something I really wanted to work with in all honesty. Beyond just the sweetness of two seniors in love, theres a strong class difference between these two. Kibitz (albeit his pony self) is an obsessive and stuffy attendant to the ruling monarch. Granny Smith is a humble farmer.

There's going to be some clashes, is what I'm saying.

I hope I managed to convey this through the elder apple's doubt and self consciousness, she being one of the few things that could break through her own tough exterior naturally.

Musically I was listening to a Spotify playlist called "Classic Crooners", which really helped me get into the mood.

This is also the first fic since Flash of Reflection to be pre-read and edited by Gravelordnito, whose help I am grateful for. Read his new fic guys and girls, it's dark but it's also a doozy!
