Twilight and Luna, due to a minor incident, are stuck doing a job they would rather not do. They are stuck overseeing a dance for the up and coming future nobles from Celestia's school on what should have been a date night for the two. Whatever shall two very powerful princesses do in this situation?

Though it has been weeks since the Elements of Harmony have purged Nightmare Moon from her, Luna is wracked by guilt and depression. Though the Elements purged the nightmare, they cannot purge the feelings of guilt and self-loathing, nor can they heal the scars wrought by jealously, anger, rage and madness. Though everypony forgave her, Luna cannot forgive herself and seeks penance through suffering.

My thought process on this follows, I tried to put myself in Luna's figurative shoes when coming up with this story and how would I cope.
The inspiration for this story come from the songs Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, Long Hard Road Out Of Hell by Marilyn Manson and my own personal struggles with mental illness and self harm.

But most of all... Who will win?

Grogar has returned to take his rightful place as King once more, along with the other villains. No, he's not Discord. Also, Starlight was there.

However, Twilight gets informed by Discord and decides to make this the greatest explosion ever, even if it gets her the largest reconstruction bill she'll ever need to pay.

Twilight lives a comfortable, expected life with the security of being surrounded by her mentors and friends. As she grows into a model unicorn, a dangerous being takes hold of the volatile Brood and drives them to war, breaking a long period of peace. After years of preparation for a higher order, Twilight is chosen to ascend beyond that of a typical sorcerer in a mysterious plan to counter the impending conflict.

During her dark, trying mission Twilight will discover a caged soul and unknowingly set them free, gradually acquiring an affinity for the darkness as a result. Don't expect very long chapters with this, as it's just a short set-up for what will be a much longer sequel.

No one would believe in the last years of the thirteenth century, that equine affairs were being watched by intelligences which inhabited the timeless swirls of space. No one would believe that we were being scrutinized as if someone with microscope studies beings that swarm and multiply in a drop water. Few ponies even considered the possibilities of life on other planets. And Yet across the gulf of luna’s space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this earth with envious eyes. And slowly... and surely... they drew their plans against us.

P.S. I thought about making a 2005 version of the War of the Worlds movie since there's really nothing for this version. Hope you like it. Oh and the tripod noises work well for chapter two.

Edit: Just to let you all know. I've fixed the names for the two delegates. I never did know what their names were and I apologize for that. Oh and on another note, this takes place when season 3 ends.

However, on their way to see their friends, Team JNPR, fight in the first round, Team RWBY find themselves being pulled into not only a new world, but a new conflict.
