Returning from a trip to Manehattan, Trixie has a brand new magic trick that she's all too eager to share with Starlight.

Unfortunately, when things don't work quite as expected, Trixie and Starlight are forced to go on a journey across Equestria to find the pony that gave her the trick and make things right once more.

Life on the road isn't easy, even for the Great and Powerful Trixie. Her shows are rather hit or miss, and sometimes the place where she's staying is less than welcoming. So when a gig in the city turns out to be successful, Trixie is happy to treat herself at a small cafe.

Ponies say that if you wait at a crossroads with darkness in your heart, you can trade your soul away for power.

Trixie thinks this sounds like a good deal. Surely her soul is worth much more than the average one. Certainly enough to afford revenge against that life-ruining Twilight Sparkle.

But maybe exchange rates for souls are not as favorable as she expected.

The Great and Humble Trixie Lulamoon's reputation could not possibly be any worse, but that is about to change.

Following the disaster with the Alicorn Amulet, Trixie turns herself in to the authorities to account for her crimes. In penance, she is tasked by Princess Luna with the defense of Hollow Shades against a shadowy and unknown foe.

Trixie will have to draw upon every trick and every scheme she knows just to survive. And when faced with a fate worse than Death, she will have to prove there is more to her than flash and spectacle, and learn just how far her magic can go.

And learn how to Rise.

In a desperate and costly bid to escape from his stone prison, Discord is left weak and helpless. Luckily for him, there is a nearby unicorn that he can hide in while he regains his power.

The sun has stopped moving causing the surface of Equestria to become boiling hot. Twilight and friends must set out in search of answers in a hostile environment, with the never ending wrath of the sun beating down on them. Their travels will take them across Equestria and bring them face to face with their worst fears.

In Manehattan where dreams are born, two rivals reconnect and learn what being a showpony is all about.

It's been six months since Tirek was defeated, but Trixie still has nightmares. Nightmares of being pinned down, of the magic being ripped from her bones, of being thrown around like a worthless doll. It's been six months since Trixie has had a full night's sleep, and all she wants is peace.

But Trixie is fine. Trixie doesn't need Twilight. She doesn't need her family. She doesn't need anyone. Trixie loves being alone.

So why can't she stop crying?
