The Stallions' Field Cup has finally arrived, and Caramel has decided to compete despite his shortcomings. To him, it only makes sense; to everypony else...well, they're more curious about Big Macintosh competing and acting...oddly. Of all the changes Ponyville has gone through, these two aren't very striking to the general public. But they are about to become very important.

Even with coltfriends to back up their claims, both Applejack and Rainbow Dash must deal with rumors circulating around Ponyville that they are in love with each other. To prove that she isn't scared of what others think, Rainbow Dash kisses Applejack outside of the bathroom at a Wonderbolts' race. She thinks that, at most, only a couple of ponies passing by will see them.

She is wrong.

While traveling to spend time with the Apple Family for Hearths Warming Eve , both Big Macintosh and Caramel decide to at the very least enjoy their time together by exchanging gifts in their icy train cart after their train gets stopped in the middle of their journey due to heavy blizzards.

When she becomes tired of being a poor street performer, she accepts the offer to be a sailor on the brig, Ragnarok, and under a less-than-sane captain. With no experience of the seas, she and her friend, Berry Punch take to the seas. She must learn to be the best sailor or else be left behind in the watery doors of Tartarus. However, as time goes on, she learns about a strange secret war that has been going on for centuries. A war that she had inadvertently dove right into.

After two long grueling years, the stallions of Equestria have returned home from the great war against the changelings, and Ponyville is thrilled to have them back. It's Hearts and Hooves Day, and Big Macintosh has been forced into a rather fancy getup that... truth be told doesn't fit him in the slightest. While waiting for his lover, Caramel, to come to the bar they're having dinner at, he runs into Troy and Canvas, Ponyville's seemingly most popular couple. They have a small talk regarding Mac's feelings on just how genuine the holiday feels, and more importantly how it doesn't feel like him and Caramel.
