These aren't the only holes in your grammar (and I would be lying if I said my grammar was perfect anyway), but I suggest you do a little bit of research on how to properly use quotes.
As for the story itself: on one hand, the way Skrewball is suddenly thrust into Caramel's care is extremely sudden and he doesn't bat an eyelash so it's hard to see him as more than a plot-device (you could have gone an infinite number of ways with this, but the one you did go with felt lackluster), but on the other hand I've always wanted something with Skrewball and I think your doing a decent job with giving her an actual persona over being just a silly gag. I think the premises is sound and can lead to a delightful slice-of-life shipping fic with enough work, so I withhold my rating till I see more. Regardless, I still rather enjoyed this.

Yeah... I can see just how it can be so sudden. You'd be pleased to know that in the third chapter, I'll have some sort of reason why Caramel was chosen to take care of Screwball. I'll make the adjustment to the grammar problem you said though.
