“Please look after my children.”

Pear Butter’s last words were spoken to the stranger who found their crash: the cruel, otherworldly siren named Adagio Dazzle, who sees in her death a golden opportunity.

What starts as a plan to raise willing minions for sustenance and protection goes… a little differently than Adagio had in mind.

“Father…” Adagio whispered. “Please spare them?”

The mountainous digits closed down around her. But she did not swim away. She stared back up into those ageless yellow eyes with nothing but fear and respect. Before his fist closed around her, he whispered back.

“No.”

Three weeks after the events of Rainbow Rocks, the sirens are desperate. Without their hearts—the jewels that hold their magic—they have no power. They can't sing, can't manipulate people, and worst of all, can't feed. Their only hope is to restore their hearts, and they need to do it soon, before all three of them starve.

The problem is, they're not sure how to fix the hearts. All they've managed to figure out is that they'll need magic to do it, and magic is exactly what they don't have. Scared, starving, and completely out of options, the sirens turn to the last people who would ever want to help them, and the only ones who actually can: the Rainbooms.

Chapters VIII-XII are from a technically complete first draft, posted in hope of providing closure as I don't see myself properly finishing this story. Read at your own peril.

Who is Adagio? The immortal scourge of two worlds? The living embodiment of dangerous beauty and musical perfection?

Or is she a lost soul in need of a friend? A sister struggling to reunite her fractious family before it's too late?

...A strange girl who can't possibly be all the things she looks like?

Months have passed since the Battle of the Bands. As the school returned to normal, the Dazzlings decided to continue to attend, keeping to themselves and observing the student body. When Principal Celestia asks for volunteers for setting up a charity Easter egg hunt, Adagio, Aria, and Sonata join the Rainbooms, who already volunteered to help.

Is it merely an innocent gesture, or does Adagio have something planned to get back at the Rainbooms for the Dazzlings' defeat?

The "other" character tag is because I have more than five tag-able characters in the story.
