What she was NOT expecting was to run into her human self let alone for Sonata to drag them off proclaiming at the top of her lungs how she was right about how Sunny had a twin and that she'd call dibs on every Sunny counterpart in existence. Sunset struggles against the chains around her. Bound by Princess Celestia's will, her flames, and her degrading morality. Seeking powers to reclaim what was promised, turning away from the ever-watching sun.

Cadance seeks purpose and answers to questions that had been long left unanswered. Entering into a new and unforgiving world. With every pony seeking to use the newest Princess to their end, she must find her path through the shadows and light.

Two sisters begin their cycle anew. The shadows start to dance once more as the darkness swallows the light. Ponies long since thought lost, return. Sunset's life has taken a turn for the worse since the fall formal, some students are unforgiving, and take the opportunity to get revenge. Sunset in her state of defeat goes through a crisis when she notices her demon trying to get out of her, the abuse at school doesn't help. Listening to that created being, she decides to listen to her demon, the only one capable of understanding her. Dealing with new spooky magical occurrences; The 5 mane try to reach her, but it is useless, is approaching… a musical showcase.

Sgt. Sunset Shimmer is dying. Struck in the stomach by a bullet during the heat of combat, she now lays helpless on a deserted battlefield, the conflict having moved on without her. There's not a living soul around to help her... or so it might seem.

Until she's approached by a being from her past, one that she'd desperately hoped never to see again, a creature to which she has given much and owes much more... and one that might be able to save her life.
