Once upon a time, there lived a girl who had everything she wanted. She was popular; she was the princess of the fall formal; she was smart. But the Principal got really fed up and decided to take the matter into her own hands.

The girl had planned a party for the coronation of becoming the fall formal Princess, where all students were invited(but not obligatory) and made everyone who was at the party, dance. But that night, an intruder came into the gym, seeking shelter from the bitter winter storm. She offered the girl a single rose. But when she turned away because of her haggard appearance, the old woman tried again. But she was rejected by the girl. The old woman's appearance melted away to reveal their Principal. The girl sank to her knees, begging for forgiveness, but it was too late, for Principal Celestia saw she had no love in her heart. To teach the girl a lesson, she turned her into a hideous she-demon and cast a spell on all the other students, and the spell would be broken if a boy would come and teach her true love.

Many years passed, and the girl fell into despair. She only had her most loyal friends by her side(the Rainbooms).

The nearby villagers forgot all about them.

For who could ever love a she-demon?

Klaus looked outside from his window. He brushed his curly black hair away from his eyes, putting on his round glasses. It was about 5 am in the morning, and no one was awake. The only thing for company was the book he was meant to return to Olivia, Twilight by Stephanie Meyers. He smiled, he only had a couple of chapters left. He had seen the movie many times, and he loved the bit when Bella was being saved by Edward. Well, the bit when James bit her and broke her leg. Klaus shook his daydream out of his mind, but little did he know that this love for Bella and Edward would be integral to saving someone.

The cockerel crowed as he was finishing the epilogue and the sun rose over the town. He went out of the house, down the steps, and greeted the townsfolk warmly, while getting bread.

He went to the Apples' stand, where the head of the family, Granny Smith, was selling her most popular treats. They were chatting, Klaus talking about Twilight and Granny Smith trying to understand what he was saying.

He felt people were watching him, as they were sniggering behind him. He walked on his way to the library, where a friend of the Baudelaires and the Quagmires, Olivia Caliban, ran it.

He pushed open the door. "Ah, Klaus," she said in a warm voice. "Have you finished Twilight?"

"Yes," he replied. "I loved it. I've seen the movie but the book is better. I especially loved it when Bella was being saved by Edward and when they were dancing, when Eddie and Jake knew perfectly well that Bella HATED dancing,"

Olivia laughed. "It's good. I haven't got any new books in at the moment. But I know you like The Sign of the Four by Arthur Conan Doyle. You can keep it. I've got about 20 copies of that book."

Klaus looked at Olivia in surprise. "Thank you!" he cried, hurrying to get the book.

Olivia smiled. "You're very welcome, Klaus. Say hello to your sisters and the Quagmires, won't you?"

He nodded. "I will!" he cried happily.

He went out, crashing straight into Carmelita Spats and Snips. Carmelita was always trying to harass him and trying to get him to marry her.

"What you got there?" she asked.

"A book," I said, hugging the book close to my chest. "It's my favourite one."

"Is there room for one more in your house?" she asked, waving a pink gloved hand in the direction of his home.

"Well," he said awkwardly. "Well, I don't know how to break it to you, but you're not welcome in my household. Violet proclaimed it. Quigley agrees and seems like Duncan and Isadora do too. I'm sorry, Carmelita, but no. You're not welcome."

I walked off, nose stuck in my book, towards the house

" Bad luck," said Snips.

Klaus walked into the house, placing the basket of food onto the marble sideboard. Duncan smiled, unpacking the food, and passing it to Sunny. Sunny loved to cook.

He went over to Violet, who was putting finishing touches on her latest invention. Quigley came into the room. "Hello, Klaus," he said. "Hey, Violet."

Violet was 18 years old and Quigley was 17. They were married and took responsibility for the majority of the family. Quigley kissed his wife on her cheek. Violet smiled. She stood up, admiring it.

"It's to help do the washing," she explained to Klaus.

"It's beautiful," said Quigley. "You're really creative. I long to go mountaineering again."

Violet grinned. "Maybe after the fair," she said.

"Violet?" asked Klaus. "Do you miss our parents?"

"I do," she said. "But they're watching us from heaven. They told me to look after you and Sunny. You're 16, Klaus. You probably don't need to be looked after. But Sunny is 6 years old, and I promised- I promised them I would look after her."

Klaus smiled. "I know. But I'm old enough."

Violet grinned. "I'm going with Quigley to the fair. Duncan wants a notebook, Isadora wants a poetry book, and Sunny wants a toy. What can I get you?"

"A rose," he said. "To remind me of our burnt-down home."

"You ask for that every year," said Quigley.

Klaus nodded. "Well," said Violet. "Why don't you go up and read? We'll call you when it's time for breakfast."

Klaus smiled, as he went upstairs to read.

Violet and Quigley left early to go to the fair with the washer. Klaus began to sweep the floor, Duncan began to sweep the chickens and Isadora and Sunny were baking. "I'm just gonna go and do the washing," said Klaus. "Anyone coming?"

"I'm coming," said Isadora, going upstairs to fetch the washing. Klaus ran to find a barrel and a bar of soap. As they went out, carrying the basket between them, towards the stream. He put some of the water into the barrel and put the bar of soap in the barrel. Isadora then put the clothes in the stream and then placed them inside the barrel. There was a handle on the side of the barrel, and both children were turning the crank as it was stiff. After the clothes were churned in the barrel, they put the clothes into a water bath made for soapy clothes, like theirs.

They then took their clothes out and put them in the basket. Klaus carried the barrel in one hand while carrying one of the handles on the basket. Isadora had the other handle.

When they returned, Carmelita was waiting. "Room for one more?" she asked.

Klaus was going red with anger. "Carmelita, you're not welcome!" he shouted.

Carmelita followed them to the door. "Please, go," said Isadora. "We don't want guests."

The 2 children hurried into the house. "Is she gone?" he asked Isadora.

She looked out of the window. "Yes," she said. Klaus sighed with relief.

"Can you imagine? Me, the husband of that boorish, brainless?" he said furiously. He went out, breathing heavily.

Quigley and Violet were in Violet's mother's old car. The wind was getting worse. "Where are we?" she asked. Quigley consulted the map. "I think we go up the 2nd path," he said. Violet drove up the 2nd path, and then there was another fork. There was a sound of barking. "Wolves!" he shouted. "Take the one with the orange trees." Violet went up, to see a large high school. It seemed to be dark. But the wolves had stopped when they went up the orange tree path.

"Wait," she said. "It's very cold, but it's very kind of the owner to let us in. I'm gonna find our host."

"I'm coming with you," said Quigley, getting out of the car.

As the couple went into the school, they saw inanimate objects. "This is creepy," whispered Violet, flicking her long dark brown hair over her shoulder, as they peeked into every room.

They finally went into the cafeteria. Empty.

They went outside. They were driving out when Violet noticed a rose bush. "Klaus wanted a rose," she said.

"It's stealing," said Quigley.

Violet got out of the car, picking a rose from the bush. A growl came from behind her. She turned slowly to see a she-demon. She had blood-red bat-like wings, claws so sharp that they could slash you with one swipe, her fangs as long as a small pencil, and her eyes were a cyan colour with black sclera. The she-demon grabbed Violet. "GO!" shouted Violet to Quigley, struggling against the tight grip of the demon. The demon dragged her back up towards the school, as Quigley drove off.

Quigley drove as fast as he could back to his siblings and the remaining Baudelaires. "Quigs!" cried Klaus. "Where's Vi?"

"She's been taken," he said. "By a demon."

"I'm going," said Klaus.

"No." said Quigley.

"Yes." replied Klaus firmly. "My sister needs help."

"Klaus," said Isadora. "This is incredibly dangerous."

"I know," he replied. "I understand. But this is my sister we're talking about. What if it was Quigley who was trapped? No offence."

"None taken," replied Quigley.

"I'd save him," said Isadora.

"Exactly," replied Klaus. "Quigley, could you take me to her?"

Quigley nodded. "You'd better pack."

Klaus ran up the stairs, throwing some clothes, a toiletry set, a hairbrush and a book into a backpack.

The 2 boys got into the car. "Stay safe, both of you," said Isadora.

Quigley drove off.

They arrived at the desolate school. Klaus got out, walking in nervously.

"Look, it's a boy," whispered a candelabra.

"I can see it's a boy," whispered the clock.

"Who's there?" called Klaus.

He grabbed the candelabra as he heard a scream from above. He hurried up the stairs, towards the scream. In the detention room(that was what the room was labelled) was Violet, behind bars. Klaus put down the candelabra, grasping his sister's icy cold hands. "Vi!" he cried.

"Klaus!" cried Violet. "Run! There's a-!"

Klaus turned to see a shadow. "Come out," he said gently. "I've come to take the place of my sister. Please. She has to look after my 6-year-old sister who's at home."

The shadowy figure came out of the shadows. Klaus gasped softly. "I'm not frightened of you," he said boldly. "I know my sister tried to steal a rose. I asked for it. Take me instead."

"NO!" cried Violet.

"Be quiet, Vi," he said. "I've got this." He turned to this monster in front of me. She snarled menacingly. "Please."

The demon opened the door and dragged Violet out, shoving him inside.

The candelabra opened the door. "Sorry about that," she said brightly. "I'm Rainbow Dash. The she-demon is a little scary."

The clock came upstairs. "But she said-"

"This is Twilight Sparkle," said Rainbow Dash. "Your name is..."

"Klaus Baudelaire," he said quietly.

"That was very brave of you," continued Rainbow Dash. "Now, we'll take you to your room."

KLAUS.Rainbow Dash and Twilight led me to the room. "Now," said Rainbow Dash. "You can't go to the science lab. Or the library. They're being..."

"Restored," said Twilight, as they took me to the top. They opened the door. "Welcome," said Rainbow Dash.

It was definitely bigger than the bedroom Duncan and I shared. There was a wardrobe at the edge of the room and a window.

"Finally!" cried the Wardrobe. "A boy to dress!"

"This is Rarity," said Twilight. "Fashionista."

Rarity trilled excitedly. "Thanks, but no," I said. "I'm a big reader."

Twilight looked at me. "So we can discuss books? You and me?"

"If you want," I said.

"Maybe you could try to get the demon to read," said a teapot in a southern accent. The teacup was bouncing excitedly. "That was very brave of you, dear," continued the teapot.

"Applejack and Apple bloom," said Rainbow Dash lazily. "Now, if you don't mind, Twi and I have to get the demon."

"Tea?" asked Applejack.

I shook my head. "I understand," she said. "It's hard when you've been separated from yer family. I lost my parents when Applebloom was just a little baby. And I don't know where ma brother and Granny are."

"Your Granny?" I asked.

"Yep," she replied. "Granny Smith."

"She's safe," I said. "I've seen her."

Applejack let out a happy sigh. "Thank God," she muttered.

There was a heavy knock on the door. "Will you join me for dinner?" boomed the demon.

"I told you no!" I shouted. "Are you insane?! First, you take me as your prisoner, now you want me to join you for dinner?!"
"Fine!" shouted the demon. "Go ahead and starve."

I sank onto the bed.

I sighed. I wonder what my sister was doing?
CARMELITA.
Snips was massaging my shoulders. I was feeling down as Klaus refused me again. Snips wheeled my chair to the deer I hunted. I liked to have my prey in the pub so everyone could see my achievements. Snips began singing to try and inspire me. That made me happy and the others were very happy. I joined in with Snips's song. The crowd were cheering, and I lapped it up. I even sang a little song of my own.

Violet came in, telling us about some demon. "I believe you," I said. "Let's find this demon, who you say has Klaus."

KLAUS.I went into the cafeteria. "Hurry!" cried Rainbow Dash to the drum kit. "Play something!"

Then Rainbow Dash burst into song, as her friends and she served me food. This was a bit phantasmagorical. I was astonished. Why were they being nice to me? Applejack poured tea from her spout into Apple bloom.

It had to be the demon. She has to be the reason or part of the reason why the girls were being nice to me.

"Now off to bed," said Applejack. "And remember..."

"Applejack?" I asked. "Why are you all being so nice to me?"

"It's a long story," she said. "I'll tell ya later."

I nodded. Applejack went away. I hurried into the science lab.

I gasped. It was huge. There was a rose with wilting petals on the desk. I looked at it curiously. What was it?

"What are you doing?" snarled a voice. I turned. It was the demon.

"I was curious," I said.

"GO!" she shouted. "I told you never to come here! And don't come back!"

I ran out. Quigley looked at me. "Klaus, where are you going?" he asked.

"Out," I said.

Quigley went after me. There was growling. Wolves. I picked up a stick to defend myself. And then behind me, I heard a roar. The demon had come after me. She fought off the wolves, as they leapt onto her. One of them, I noticed, had ripped one of her wings off. She staggered, falling to the ground, snarling softly.

I felt compelled to help her, even if she had just told me to go. But she needed medical attention, and if she didn't get it, she could die. I looked at Quigley, who nodded. We held her between us, going back towards the school.

"Ow!" cried the demon. "Ow!"

I was sewing her wing onto her back. "It'll hurt," I said gently. "But if you keep still, it won't hurt so much."

I brushed her red-gold mane out of her face. "You should rest," I said.

The demon closed her eyes.

"Thank you," said the drum kit. "I'm Pinkie."

"Yes," said Rainbow Dash. "Thank you for taking care of her."

"I think something's up," I said. "Were you cursed?"

"Yes," said Applejack honestly. "We were. But the Principal said that if a boy could teach her to love before the last petal fell, the spell would be broken."

"I see," I said. "So, if I teach her, I could break the spell you're in?"

"Yes," said Twilight.

"Klaus?" asked Rainbow Dash. "We thought you were the one when you came in for that first time."

I was in the doorway. "I'm going to leave her to sleep," I said. "She needs it."

"Maybe Fluttershy should stay here," said Pinkie Pie.

"Yes," whispered the duster meekly.

"What do they call you?" I asked timidly. "They call me Klaus."

"Oh," she said. "Most of the guys here call me Sunset Shimmer."

"That's a pretty name," I said.

"For a monster," she replied softly.

"You're not a monster," I said. "I can see inside is a girl. All you want is to be noticed. But it doesn't have to be like that. I can help you."

Sunset smiled. "No one's ever tried to help me."

"Well," I said. "Maybe that's what you need. I'm the middle of 3 children. I'm always helping my sisters. You helped me, with those wolves." I held out my hand. "It's my turn to help you. Think of it as a way to thank you for saving me and my sister's husband."

She took my hand uncertainly. "Twilight tells me you like to read," she said. "I want to show you something."

She led me to the library, gently opening the door. "It's enormous," I said.

"This is where students would read, including me," she said quietly. "Why don't you have a look?"

"It's amazing!" I cried. "But I'm not a student."

"You will be when you free me," she mumbled.

"Hey!" shouted Rainbow Dash. "Are you coming outside or what? Twilight's being miss mardy pants and is staying inside. Applejack and I are going to have a snowball fight. Wanna join?"

"I mean, that does sound fun," said Sunset.

"It does," I agreed. "Come on!"

Sunset laughed. Rainbow Dash threw a ball at me. I deflected it with my boot and retaliated, accidentally hitting Sunset. She gathered up snow in her claws and threw it at me. I was drenched. I laughed. She was laughing as well.

I smiled, as we went inside. "You're drenched, both of you!" cried Fluttershy. "Oh gosh! Hey, have some hot soup. Then go and have a warm shower."

Fluttershy put a bowl of tomato soup in front of us. She began slurping it. I laughed, lifting it, gently bringing the soup to my mouth. She tried to copy me. We laughed, as we went to the bathroom to have a shower.

Then we went to the library. Sunset pulled down a brown book. "This was from Principal Celestia," she said. "A book that truly allows you to escape."

"It's amazing," I said.

"Think of the one place you've always wanted to see," she said. "Now find it in your mind's eye and feel it in your heart."

I put my hand on the book and went.

"Where did you take us?" she asked.

"The Baudelaire home," I said. "Where my parents died. My parents were burnt to death in a fire. They promised my sister when Sunny was born and when I was 10, that she had to look after us if they died. That she'd had to protect us. Violet told me that our parents died in a fire."

I looked at the home closely. "It was arson," I whispered.

"I'm sorry about your parents," she said quietly. "My parents died too. My mom died when she gave birth to me. My dad died of heartbreak. We're orphans."

"Yes," I said. "We are."

She reached a claw out. "Come here," she said, hugging me.

We stood there, in each other's embrace, in silence, each lost in our thoughts. Remembering.

Rarity dressed me in a white shirt and a gold blazer. I wore black trousers and black shoes. I went out of the room. I saw Sunset, dressed in a simple mid-blue dress. We walked down the steps together, my hand meeting her claw. Applejack began to sing. We went into the gym. I bowed. She curtseyed. I held out my hands and led her into a gentle waltz. I twirled her around. I giggled as she stepped on my toes a few times. But it was the best feeling I had ever felt.

Applejack kept singing, as we kept dancing. At the end of the song, we went on to the balcony.

"Are you okay, Klaus?" she asked gently. "You miss Violet, don't you?"

I nodded. "I know how we can see her," she said.

She led me to the science lab. The rose?

She pulled a mirror from under a book. "Principal Celestia gave me this so I could see the outside world. But if you hold it, you can see your sister."

She gave me the mirror. "Show me my sister Violet!" I cried.

I saw my sister being tortured by Carmelita.

"Sunset. I have to help my sister. She needs me."

SUNSET.
As I watched the car reverse out, I put my head into my claws. Why? Why did I just do it?

I knew the answer. I was in love with him.

After a while, I saw a girl clad in pink come toward me. "Hello, Demon!" she smirked. "Klaus sent me."

The girl and I began to wrestle. Then Klaus appeared, with his sisters, Quigley and 2 children who looked like Quigley.

"Sunset!" shouted Klaus.

I turned, my grip relaxing on the girl. "Klaus, you came back!"

"Of course I did!" he replied. "I couldn't leave you! Carmelita, NO!"

Carmelita pulled a gun out and shot me in my abdomen. I groaned, staggering forward.

"I'm coming, Sunset!" shouted Klaus, hurrying to me. Carmelita kicked a stone, sending him down. He climbed onto a bridge. Carmelita shot me again. I fell to my knees. Klaus ran towards her, wrestling her. She stumbled back, falling backwards into the darkness.

KLAUS.
I ran over to Sunset. She was clutching her stomach, as the blood spread upon her dress, still on her knees. I could hear her breathing heavily. She cried out, her eyes wracked with pain. I knelt beside her. "Lie down," I said gently. "It's for the best."

She lay down, my hands holding her head. Her eyes were streaming with tears. "It's my turn to leave you," she said in a small, weak voice.

"No," I said. "Don't leave me. Not yet."

Her eyes were closed; her body was shuddering; her breathing was weak. She wasn't strong enough. Her head moved, and then she stopped breathing. "NO!" I shouted. "NO! Please, come back!" I cried. "I-I love you!"

I was crying over her body. I heard glass shattering. I turned. The Principal that Sunset was talking about raised her hands and the petals of the rose and the glass emerged with golden light and wrapped around Sunset. I shielded my eyes, as the light lifted her into the air. When the light died down, she stood up. She looked at her hands, touching her face, and her red-gold hair.

"Klaus, don't you recognise the beast within?" she asked. "It's me."

I smiled. "It is you!" I cried. She hugged me. I lifted her chin. We looked into each other's eyes. We began kissing. "I love you Sunset," I said softly.

"I love you too," she replied.

"We need to get you undressed and put something else on," I said quietly.

"Klaus, wait." said the Principal.
I turned. "I'm offering you a place at Canterlot High." continued the Principal. "If you want it."

I looked at Sunset. "I'd like that," I replied. "Thank you."

I led Sunset into the bathroom. I helped her get undressed. I pulled out a simple cyan dress and a black leather jacket. She pulled on the dress and I helped her put on the jacket. I then went to my room and put on a blue jumper and brown trousers.

We went into the gym. "Sunset!" cried Rainbow Dash, as she held Fluttershy's hand.

"Shy! Dash!" cried Sunset.

"You're back," said Fluttershy.

"I am," she said gently.

"My farmer," said Rarity to Applejack.

Rarity was kissing Applejack. Sunset, Rainbow, Fluttershy and I turned to see Rarity and Applejack in a tight embrace, kissing each other. Rainbow Dash grabbed Fluttershy and did the same.

Pinkie looked at us. She laughed. "Not funny," said Twilight.

"Twi," said a male voice.

"Flash," said Twilight.

Flash smiled, giving Twilight a hug.

"It's good to see you, Sunset," said Flash.

Rarity and Applejack began to sing a duet. Apple bloom leapt into Big Mac's arms, as the villagers came into the school. Duncan began tearing up, as Sunset and I began dancing. Rainbow smiled, leading Fluttershy into a dance.

Violet and Quigley were dancing too.

"How do you feel about having kids?" I asked Sunset.

Sunset growled playfully. We laughed.

Epilogue( a few years later)

After Sunset and I left CHS, I went off to Oxford to study medicine. I loved books, I knew that. But I knew I could help people as I did with Sunset. Sunset went to Canterlot University to study English and Drama. After completing our education, we settled down to have a family.

We had our first child the year after I came back from Oxford for good, a girl we named Emma. And we were expecting another child. Sunset was only 3 months into the pregnancy, but we were happy. We had a family, and we were grateful that we had each other.
