A short one-shot with snippets of story and elements of a darker AU based around if Demon Shimmer hadn't been defeated and dumb magic rules I made up just for this exact AU were in play.

Written during the Iron Author Writing 2023 Competition. The one I submitted for the competition lacked all my funny italics because I had to paste it in from libreOffice haha. (I have since realized I should have pasted in the chapter here first and then into the competition, but c'est la vie).

Anon and his trusty steed Applejack run a tight operation. Ever since the war, ponies have been used as beasts of burden, of labor, or just for "fun." Anon and Applejack find mistreated ponies and rescue them, giving them their freedom back. However, they may have bitten off more than they can chew with their latest rescue--an old friend of Applejack's who has been thoroughly, pitiably broken.

Twilight went to Gastly Gorge to get something for Zecora's potion, she then got bitten by a spider, she then got a rash, intense itching, her eyes changing color. She went to the hospital and she was diagnosed with a lethal disease. Unlucky for her, she only has a week to live.

How will her friends react? What will happen? and Will she find the cure?
