I'd do just about anything to help my faithful assistant and dearest friend with his problems, but this time I may be out of my depth. Something's wrong with Spike... very wrong, and I'm not sure I can fix it on my own. I don't know what's going on, but I'm worried about him. Some of the things he's been saying lately... they scare me.

I'm afraid for him... and I think I might be afraid of him.

After attempting to recover a significant amount of lost matter in a teleportation mishap, Twilight Sparkle begins to exhibit strange symptoms.

As this goes on, a strange droning emanates from the newly discovered caverns underneath her Crystal Castle.

The worst part is, nopony in the town seems to believe her.

Legend tells of a shadowy demon that consumes the souls of the living. When Applebloom is found comatose in the Everfree, Twilight comes to learn the horrifying truth—some legends are real. Spurred by fear, she ventures into the darkness of Applebloom's nightmare, and the unimaginable terrors within.

For more than a month now, Rarity has been bedridden, stuck in a seemingly endless nightmare-filled sleep. Despite warnings from both Celestia, Luna and Discord, she conspires to travel to the Saddle Arabian mountains in search of answers and, hopefully, a cure.

But what she doesn't know is that these answers could lead her to a horror beyond her wildest imagination.

Three weeks after being forced into a sinister game of revenge, arranged by Queen Chrysalis, Twilight returns to confront Chrysalis one last time, only to learn that her along with her friends were not the first round of victims.

The game was never over.

Before anybody asks, yes, this is very heavily inspired by the "Saw" movie franchise. I just felt that the original story needed more of a story, so here's my attempt at adding more to the story. This takes place after the events of season 6!

Twilight Sparkle wakes to a wasteland. Equestria as she knows it has been destroyed. Her friends have scattered to the winds.

Twilight must find out what happened, where the Princesses have gone and what has happened to her friends. To do that, she must fight through a toxic gas that has changed ponies into something unrecognizable. Have her friends survived at all?

There's a dark secret behind all of this, and in a journey that heralds only pain and turmoil, does Twilight really want to know the truth? Or are some things best kept close to a pony's chest?

So begins yet another chilly autumn in Equestria. While making her annual preparations for the winter, Twilight Sparkle comes across four jet black volumes in a dilapidated section of the Canterlot Archives. With Princess Luna's blessing, Twilight begins the long, arduous process of translating the ancient tomes. Before long, she begins experiencing horrifying dreams and visions of distant dimensions and indescribable monstrosities.

This is an attempt at blending the My Little Pony universe with Lovecraft's iconic cosmic horror.
Rated T for potential violence and nihilistic themes.
