Mystic Mind

The greatest storyteller of our time, or just another smuck pony fan on the internet? YOU decide! (Also I do episode analysis sometimes.)

This story is a sequel to The Deep

Down there in the darkness, centuries of evil
And his arms will take you deeper and deeper
God lives underwater, we all seek his kingdom
And you feel his embrace, sweeter and sweeter

For more than a month now, Rarity has been bedridden, stuck in a seemingly endless nightmare-filled sleep. Despite warnings from both Celestia, Luna and Discord, she conspires to travel to the Saddle Arabian mountains in search of answers and, hopefully, a cure.

But what she doesn't know is that these answers could lead her to a horror beyond her wildest imagination.

Sequel to my first ever horror fic, The Deep. Prior reading recommended, but not required.

Inspired by the Candlemass song of the same name and, of course, the works of H.P Lovecraft.

Fine Lovecraftian horror.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Nice! You ever plan on writing a sequel for this one too?

I might do. I've not decided yet.

Pleasure and pain, my kalaka’wei!

And "kalaka’wei" translated to a synonym for butt in my head. I can't unthink it and it'll forever be how I refer to nuisances at work, "Pain in my kalaka’wei."

I adore the Lovecraftian inspiration. The descriptions were fantastic as well! If you make more stories in this universe, I’ll be sure to know.

Thank you for writing this story, it truly was a treasure to read. I only hope that in the future their will be a sequel.

I haven't officially decided on a third instalment of this series yet, but with Halloween being relatively soon, you never know!

I love this but I’m confused on the ending. What is the snow leopards significance and where is it relevant?

Fluttershy asked the Snow Leopard for directions. This is a classic Lovecraftian "The evil is gone... or is it?" ending. A piece of something evil still exists, and the animal reacts to it. With that said, this was the intended meaning, but the execution was sloppy in hindsight.

The Deep was nice Lovecraftian horror. This is a fitting sequel, with proper amounts of horror and ultimate ambiguity at the end there.
