It all began on the Summer Sun Celebration in Ponyville, a little more than a year ago. Nightmare Moon, the mare thought to be a mere legend has returned and changed our world. She forbid the sun from rising ever again, she broke our spirits and sowed seeds of distrust and sadness amongst us.

She invaded our dreams, poured nightmares into them to make us live in fear, make us obey. And those who didn't obey, ended up in dreamlocked prisons built of their dreams, wishes and fears, with no hope of returning to the real world.

As for myself... I just want my sister back.

Celestia has dedicated centuries to making Equestria a safe place for her little ponies to live and grow in the lessons of friendship and harmony. Sadly, there are those who spurn the gifts of harmony for the sake of power and material wealth; by any means necessary.
Some of these evildoers would not hesitate to break her laws to achieve their ends. The more terrifying ones though? They use her laws.

At the founding of their rule, the Royal Sisters anticipated such problems could arise and prepared by founding a secret society. Guardians who would protect the original ideals of the royal sisters. Guardians just as ruthless as the monsters they would fight.

Two years after the return of the Crystal Empire to the realm of Equestria, Flash Sentry was itching to board the next train to anywhere the first chance that he got. That chance came in the form of a reassignment when Equestria and the Empire merged their royal guard corps. He was shipped off to Canterlot to become one of Prince Blueblood's personal guard, a position of great honor and prestige. Flash was determined to perform his duties to the best of his abilities.

Of course, his best may not be enough seeing as how almost every mare on the planet wants to murder the good prince.

Who else could endorse the Apple family business? Who is beloved by all, and could put Sweet Apple Acres on the map?

Twilight was supposed to gather the Elements of Harmony the way Princess Celestia planned it: meet the embodiments of the Elements while running errands in Ponyville, team up with them, discover the meaning of friendship, and then defeat Nightmare Moon. It was all so simple.

Too bad she really underestimated Twilight's ability to screw things up.
