A friendly game of cards turns a long afternoon into a bit of fun for Applejack and Spike.

Author's note: Just a little something while I work on some longer projects, enjoy!

Spike, though he's accepted that he's really a pony at heart, still feels down about the differences between him and the rest of his species. He tells Rainbow Dash how he feels, who does her best to cheer him up, her way.

She told him she loved him. She told him she would never send him away. So why does he feel like she's leaving him behind as she heads off into her new life as a royal princess?

It's Twilight and Spike's first night in their new castle, and after yet another near-apocolypse, they just want to get a good night's sleep. Unfortunately, it seems that no good deed goes unpunished, as sleep proves very elusive in these unfamiliar surroundings.

"I just wanna let you know,/How grateful I am to you./I appreciate all the hard work,/And kindness you put into,/Dear Spike!" -The Aquabats, ‘Dear Spike!’

All of the girls have at one point or another had Spike help them. However, it seems that the little dragon's good deeds often go unnoticed. So as an act of kindness, they all write letters to Spike.

It's been a week since the Royal Wedding, and Twilight and her friends are back in Ponyville, safe and sound. However, ever since they returned from Canterlot, all of Twilight's friends have gone through large bouts of guilt over ignoring her warnings. But of all her friends, Twilight is most concerned about Spike, who keeps waking up in the middle of the night with severe panic attacks.

Despite all her best efforts, Twilight hasn't been able to get her assistant to talk about his dreams, or make him feel better about himself since that day. But after another restless night, Twilight has had enough, and refuses to let him go until he talks about his dream.

However, when Spike finally confesses his recurring nightmare, he talks about what could've happened if Twilight never saved the wedding. And what she discovers, is much worse than she could've ever imagined.

When Spike is sick, or sleepy, or just plain bored, he'll suddenly know something about being a dragon. Sometimes, he can almost hear voices, telling him stories from beyond his shell.

In the far distant past, a dragon family shares the myths of the world with their eggs.

The Friendship Summit preparations have gone on without a hitch, thanks to ‘Princess’ Spike’s initiative and resourcefulness. He still has to deal with Twilight’s disapproval, though.

Nearly a decade past since Twilight and Spike moved into Ponyville. Since then, Spike grew himself into a fine young dragon. One day, during a storm, he stops into Sugarcube Corner to visit his old friend Pinkie Pie. When her foals begin crying in fear of the thunderstorm. Luckily, Spike knows just how to cheer them up.

This is based on a chapter from Fireproof, which is a sequel to Dragon Sage. The chapter felt so good to write that I felt it deserved to be it's own one-shot. I edited a few elements in the story to keep it from spoiling the others.

When Spike and the CMC get in a bind, his true nature is revealed to Ponyville and all of Equestria.

Spoiler Alert: Spike is often overlooked. This isn't one of those times!
NOTE: This story is not going to be canon-compatible for very long. But Spike fans like me would most likely wish it would be.
